If it werent for the ride through the woods in the dark and the tunnels, this would be the Beasts equal or better. As it is, this is the 3rd best woody Ive rode, right behind the Beast and its son.

THANK YOU! Im not the only one who loves this ride. Ive never rode the Beast or its son, but I love this coaster and its layout.

I like MS and I didnt bash it, but there are better and hopefully you guys will get to ride some other great woodies that arent overbraked and give a a real out of control feeling like The Beast.

He mentions riding the Beast in his review.

Thats about all he talks about lol.

Where do you get that from MovieCoast??? The only time I mention the Beast and its son is when comparing woodies, because those 2 coasters are what all woodies should be measured up to, as they are the best there is.

Im surprised you enjoyed this ride. When it first opened it was fantastic. But it has so many trim brakes on it now that it is just a shell of its former self. Now it just average.

I agree with coaster05 on this one. And the Beast is awesome to be sure, but it doesnt hold a candle to the Coney Island Cyclone, at least in my opinion. Now, thats the golden standard of woodies.

Why dont any of the other cyclones measure to the original?

I actually havent been on any except the original. One has to wonder, though, Ive heard many say the same that you have.

I dont have all the history on this so Ill probably be corrected. My understanding is that when coasters started becoming popular many were modeled after the successful ones, and similarily were given the same names. There were a lot of Cylcones, Dippers, Thunderbolts out there.
In my opinion none of the others named Cylcone match up for the sheer out of control feel you get. No Cyclone shakes as much as the origianl, the original still has no seat dividers but has huge cushioning on the seats. My first drop on the original was the steepest woodie drop (I dont know if this is still true. Ive only been on the Georgia Cyclone and SFNE Cyclone. currently the Ga. Cyclone gives a ride closer to Coney Island but pales in comparison. Before SF bought Riverside Park, the Riverside Cyclone rocked and many in ACE said it was better than Coney Island. I rode it in 1988 and didnt think it was better, but close.

I have not been on the orginal but i find the one in georgia to be an excellent ride. If the orginal is that much better it must be fantastic.

Ooh, coaster05 - you have to check out the original, should you ever get the chance. The best ride is when the train is full - front seat is a rollicking blast, the back seat is downright sadistic. Definitely the roughest back seat Ive ever experienced. Hmm...maybe Ill head out there this week for a ride - Astrolands open now. Ill think of you!

adriahna - thats a great idea, I might go also. At least when the weather is this cool you can find a place to park

True, true...parkings a bear at Coney.

not even close to the beast or its son. There are alot better woodies out there. Try some before comparing it to the beast.
