Review of Nitro @ Six Flags Great Adventure
0 Rating Posted by: TOGO_Fan on 5/6/2001 6:53:00 PM
Ok, I recently re-rode Nitro cause I had an awfuk experience. This time, it was 100% better. This ride is as great as everyone says it is. I loved it. It was exciting. And that turn after the big hill gave me a real fright. Oh my lord, this ride is so great. My favorite part is the Hammerhead turn. Even thought I am still in New Jersey, I miss Nitro already. My final ratings are, Design - 9, Themeing - 2, Fun Factor - 8, Re-Ride - 9, Intensity - 9, Scare Factor - 9, Originality - 9. The final score is...7.8, which rounded is a 8. Thanks For Listening. Every ride needs themeing. Not every ride needs headchoppers and the such but they need some good scare factor. Nitro doesnt have one. And plus Six Flags can put in some effort. If they refuse to their rides are going to hit rock bottome with my reveiws. So get used to them. With my honest fair reveiws you know your "This ride is AWESOME" cannot cut it because fair criticing is what this is about not only Superman gets a 10. Thanks For Listening. TOGO_Fan

I have to agree with Togo that rides should have theming, but really who the f cares on roller coasters like this? Sure theming would be nice like IOAs Hulk, but it does little to make the hulk a better ride. The only thing I think coasters should have in terms of theming is music. More rides should have music, but as for storylines most coasters really dont need them.

Im saying they could have created a storyline with an awesome station and queue to go along with it...not on the actual ride and tracks itself or near it...Thanks For Listening. TOGO_Fan

There are lots of things that make a good ride. And it mostly depends on the indivudual. For one, I am one who doesnt pay much mind for theming. Theming is an added bonus, but it doesnt make the ride! And as for scare factor......most coaster enthusiasts wont be scared by any roller coaster. The only thing that would get me even a tiny bt frightened is a head-chopper, considering Im 6 foot 4. Now, why do I want to spend my entire ride ducking and feeling uncomfortable about headchoppers or near misses? A hill is a hill, speed is speed, air-time is air-time. And to disagree with TOGO_Fan, Nitro has an intense amount of airtime! I dont know where you sat my friend, but I rode that ride 10 times, and in ever seat I sat in, I spent more time on my lap bar than I did on the seat. Nitro provided a smooth ride, filled with gravitational effects, quick turns, sweet drops, and new elements that just combined to make it one of the best rides in existence. And I have to say that sticking a better station in there would not make the ride any better at all. Take rough old, noisy, bang me up Batman for instance. The theming is great, but the ride is just too quick, painful, and boring. I understand where youre trying to go with your comments, but it appears as though with you, youre only looking for one or two things in ride quality, and if theyre not there, than you give the ride no credit whatsoever. After all, TOGO_Fan, being that your name is that, I guess you like TOGO coasters, which lack theming, in most cases head-hoppers, and in even more cases, just plain old ride quality! Maybe Ill change my name to "BOLLIGERANDMABILLARD_Fan" and go make TOGO look bad. After all, that would make a lot more sense than giving a masterpiece no credit. Thanx for hearing me. Im not here to offend, Im here to give credit where it is due. I know where qality is and where it lacks, and by God, NITRO is quality. Just needed to defend one of the greatest coasters in the World. Thanx, the Squall is trough.

Lol...Togo just got blown out of the WATER!!!! That my friend was the best comment I have ever read, exept for the Batman part. Batman is gettin old and a little more rough, but in its day it was the smoothest thing around. And ur right coaster enthu dont get scared on rollercoaster, me being one, they are their for the fun "thrill" of a ride. In most cases theming means ALOT!! Especially for a ride like Earthquake. For the first time riding, theming builds up suspense for the ride. However after one or two times riding, theming wont do too much. And the other good point is about TOGOS. Those rides are the opposite of what u like in a ride!? In any case Nito is one of the best rides in the world whether TOGO thinks so or not. Not everyone will like a ride, that is why they are OPINIONS. But if u had givven this ride a one, that would be different...

I mean, take Millenium Force for instance. This rollercoaster has the best drop in existence! and the smoothness of the ride, the pacing of it, the enw elements, and ever other shear element made it more popular than Magnum in less than a month. Magnum was number one for 10 years my friend. Millennium force contains no headchoppers, near misses, not much theming ( except for a tunnel) and one of the most awkward names for a coaster. Yet, if you walk into any ACE club gathering and say this ride has no quality, youd lose a few teeth! A comment was made about " Well, Im not gonna say it was awsome like everyone else, Im gonna give fair reviews or something like that. Tell me TOGO, what is fair? Is judging a ride from its station fair? Theres a phrase. Dont judge a book by its cover. Actually, now that I think of it, Magnum has no theming, near misses, or head-choppers either. And it certainly doesnt have as much air-time as Nitro. Does that make it a bad ride? Apparently not since there are very few that can top its quality. If you want to say that Magnum and Millennium are bad rides, then you obviously have no brain! Yet, if you say they are good, then you are contradicting yourself beyond belief. My friend, a ride is what you make it. Sometimes, we as human being need to use our imaginations as our theming. we dont always need a picture painted for us saying "this ride is themed for an explosion" or anything stupid like that. I mean after all, Nitro was going to be called "Superman: Krypton Coaster." It is still registered as that in the Six Flags operating system. And since you hated Superman so much, at least give Nitro credit for being different. Listen, you can give NItro a 5 all you want. But if I hear rides like "Bandit" or "King Cobra" getting 6s, I will question your sanity. Thanx, the Squall is through.
TOGO_Fan on 7/1/2001 12:10:52 PM said:
Well, trust me, I didnt have a great experience and even though you say you will question my sanity, please go ahead and question it. One persons trash is anothers treasure. TOGOs and Vekomas and Old Arrows may be your trash, but they are my treasure. Plus, I had a bad experience on Nitro, so that may have affected my rating. The woman next to me was getting ready to throw up everywhere. So, I wasnt really paying attention to the ride. So, I guess you could say this reveiw isnt fair. Maybe when I re-visit Nitro later this week (a family reunion in New Jersey), I can rate it better. Maybe I can have a totally awesome experience. That would certainly change my reveiw. So, hopefully look for a better reveiw. The airtime factor on this ride may be huge, but I certainly did not get any because the ride ops had to tighten the clam bar all the way down. So, please before you say that this reveiw is bull think of things like experience and how the ride was for me and how things were like guest interaction, etc before you say how could you give this a 5. So, please, this week, look for a "new" Nitro reveiw. Hopefully it will be better.

Trust me...Ive read them all. Out of all (including Freefall if you rode it) which was your favorite ride? Im drooling over Goliath at the moment...
TOGO_Fan on 7/5/2001 11:31:50 PM said:
I know people hate me because of this, but Flashback Is my absolute favortie and my brothers too! I loved Freefall. Thats in second place. Then Viper, and after that I would say Goliath, and then Riddlers Revenge. Lastly, I think that after that I would asy the Batman - The Ride round the litter up and Superman would probably be one of the last ones that I liked. TOGO_Fan
TOGO_Fan on 7/5/2001 11:33:56 PM said:
Also, Flashback might be closed because Hurricane Harbour next door. It might be too loud for the lifegaurds. What I did was I kindly went up to guest services with a big smile and asked if they were planning to open Flashback. If so, to give me a buzz on this number because I am dying to ride it. And what do you know, around 3 PM I get a telephone call stating Flashback was open. I enjoyed every second of it. TOGO_Fan

Well, I like getting abused and beat up on coasters. I just love it! And this year, they did a lot of re-tracking to Psyclone, so it should be better. I liked Psyclone a lot though. TOGO_Fan

quik question, have you rode cyclone with the new ptc trains?
TOGO_Fan on 7/6/2001 8:03:02 PM said:
Yes I am a guy and no I havent rideen it with the new PTC trains, when did they get them. I rode last year. TOGO_Fan
Paul on 7/6/2001 8:42:00 PM said:
they got them when riverside switched over to six flags they are really comfortable.
Paul on 7/6/2001 8:51:41 PM said:
but.. they are lighter and that means bumpier. One other thing I noticed is that the third drop always had this bump but on the morgan trains it was not very noticable and caused nice airtime, but the ptc lapbars kind of hug you so on the way down it SLAMS into you gut. VERY painful in the back seat. but front seat is almost painless and feels like a rocket going up the turnarounds. Six Flags has also gave the coaster a nice new coat of paint.
TOGO_Fan on 7/6/2001 9:20:25 PM said:
Ok, then last year they must have had PTC trains meaning, yes, I did ride using PTC trains. TOGO_Fan

I am sorry but the changing of all your reviews doesnt sit high in my book. You seem like you are changing reviews to get people to like you. You change your reviews because people differ from you? I can see changing maybe one ride, but you keep goin on about how you had a "bad experience". It seems like you have a lot of "bad experiences" that happen to you while you are on rides. Maybe I am totally wrong about yu who knows, but your story sounds real fishy to me....
