Despite the abundance of Hypercoasters these days, very few offer the complete package as well as this masterpiece does. SROS has it all. A massive 221 foot drop after a spectacular left side view of the Connecticut River, outstanding airtime on just about every hill throughout the course( especially in the back), two mist filled tunnels, two helices, and a smaller but still exciting version of Millennium Forces overbanked turn.
Is it the best coaster in the world?
If it isnt, it is pretty damned close. It could be themed a bit better, and it could use some REAL landscaping, but now that two trains are up and running, the one thing that would lower the enjoyment factor( a horrendously long line on weekends.........buy fastpass, or ride it on weekdays) has been thankfully removed. This coaster would probably get a lot more reviews if it wasnt located in a park that frankly needs a few more coasters to complement this ride. ( Batman is a good addition, but it sorely needs another woodie and the Mind Eraser is just plain arrgravation). On weekends this park is a capacity nightmare, so anyone taking the trip to NE to hit the parks would be wise to visit on a weekday so get as many rides in as possible. After riding MF and this a few days apart, I would say that MF beats SROS on the drop( but not by much...surprisingly), but after that the two rides are equally great at that they do. MF offers sheer speed and turns with great floater air in a great setting...with a MUCH better queue experience. SROS is the airtime champ....with excitement from start to finish, and maybe the greatest layout ever designed. SROS gets the #1 rank for now..........until I get to ride Expedition GeForce....which looks like a combination of these two rides.
If I ever hit the lottery for 100 million, I am buying one of these things. Who needs a pool and lawn chairs when you can invite friends over for a toy like this instead?
