Review of Break Dance @ Moreys Piers
0 Rating Posted by: cookietime on 6/16/2003 6:21:00 PM
Im giving this beautiful Huss roundabout a low rating for the following reasons: 1). For some reason Moreys decided to take out the stearing wheels in the gondollas. The stearing wheels made the ride very exciting because you could twirl the cars around in any direction you wished, it was extremely fun this way. Unfortunatly it was TOO MUCH fun and so theyve been replaced with plastic black caps in the floor of the gondolas. 2). For some reason Moreys decided to take off the BEAUTIFUL dimond shaped centerpiece. WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?!?!?! The ride looks so empty and boring w/o the center decoration. 3). Moreys also decided to remove the far left hand side scenery section..... Why?!?! 4). the background scenery in general is completely faded at this time. The ride was installed some time in the late 80s and so by now its very much faded. The Moreys are money bags with money coming out from the seams, theres no reason why they cant hire the Huss painter to come over Brumen...er Austria to repaint the ride... and while theyre at it why not get a new centerpiece. These days Huss makes that Dimond centerpiece with chasing rope lights which cover the seams of the dimond.

wait what? Ive never seen a Break Dance with a wheel to turn the car! I dont think a wheel would help much anyway with the forces of BD.

Hey...I just saw a picture of a Break Dance at a German fair. It looks to be the same exact model as the one in Wildwood (only its nicely painted and stuff) and it does in fact have steering wheels to spin the car. I still dont see the reason for them but I guess cookietime was right!

You know what miffs me, speaking of background scenery panels - I was at Astroland the other night, and their Break Dances panels (painted by none other than the great Jacques Courtois) have been censored!!! There are several sexy ladies shown, and now theyve been covered up by tarps. Come on, folks - they arent naked, and for heavens sake, ITS CONEY ISLAND!!!

Hee, hee - well said! I was just amazed that it got tarped - in NYC!!!

Complain, complain, thats all families do. "Oh my little kid cant be exposed to such filith!" We can thank them for the nice tarp backdrops now I guess. LOL Also, when I was looking at one of the Break Dances in Germany I noticed that they dont have railings to keep you off the ride platform. You could stand just outside of the spinning platform and the ops wont care. If they did that over here, families with kids would raise HELL!

Have a look at theflatjoint.com - I would post the link, but Im a dinosaur when it comes to anything computer-oriented. Its a crazy flat ride that has a rotating platform, separate rotating platforms on that, and individually rotating gondolas on those. The whole ride is on a slant, and the gondolas slant, as well. Its crazy, and one of the few rides I cant handle. Just me getting old...

Sometimes Astroland at Coney Island covers riskee stuff up if there are conservative religious groups visiting the park on a particular day. Maybe what adriahna saw was just temporary.
