Review of Raptor @ Cedar Point
0 Rating Posted by: Emma on 6/15/2003 10:00:00 AM
I didnt enjoy this ride as much as I thought I would, and the reasons are mostly circumstancial: 1)there was a long wait, 2)after the long wait, a very rude ride op would not let me ride in the front, 3)another ride op pushed the restaint down too far, which is never a comfortable way to ride any ride. Other than that, it was a well-designed, thrilling ride that I would definitely ride again.

If the line for the front seat was already through the entire queue for the front row, that is the reason they would not allow you to wait. Otherwise, Im sure there was a good reason. What were the circumstances? I typically am skeptical about the thoroughness of a rating that is lessened based on the line and ride ops rather than the ride.

Yeah, youre rating the RIDE not the line.

I completely disagree. The experience of the ride was impacted by this ride op. If your experience on a ride was affected by such things, they should be taken into account in a review. If a ride was very good, but it stayed inoperable half the day, I would not recommend it to my friends. Why waste your day standing in line for a ride and not get the maximum experience for your wait.

Reviews are to be based on ones experience ON the ride. That is my qualm. Id just like to know what the ride deserves; not the ride ops or lines. It is nice to know in a review if the ride ops generally suck or if the lines are always long, but it is unfortunate that people allow that to bring down the number rating.

I thought we were to review rides, not each other, but let me argue my case. I can handle a long line. Thats to be expected, so it did not impact the rating of the ride. The fact that I did not get to choose my seat DID impact the rating, because in my experience, the front is best for this type of ride. And finally, the fact that the ride op stapled me in with the restraint affected my experience as well. If I was rating based only on those factors, Raptor would have scored much lower. The point of critiquing the rides is to tell others what to expect, and that is what I did.

bista, It seems as if Emmas experience wasnt as good as yours was. If she feels it was because of the ride operator, I am glad she is stating it in her review. I personally think the Raptor is the best coaster on planet Earth. But there is nothing I hate more than cranky, unfriendly ride ops who dont take their customers into account.

I wont argue that there may be some rude ride ops. Fortunately, I have never had to deal with any, although I have been "stapled in" occaisionally. As aforementioned, I am curious about why Emma was informed that she could not wait for the front because I have never heard of a ride op not allowing such for any reason other than the line for the front exceeding the queues for the front.

I had never been denied a front seat either - until my ride on Raptor. The lines for the front did exceed the queues for the front, but after paying good money to get into the park and waiting in line for so long, I dont think that its fair for them to tell me I CANNOT wait for the front. And even if its too much trouble to let others go ahead of me, or for them to block off the loading platform until the lines clear a bit (like some Six Flags parks do), the ride op didnt have to be so rude. Regardless, that did not affect my scoring of the ride.

This is what I expected. Its simply park policy. Although ride ops at parks can supposedly be rude (I reiterrate that I am fortunate enough to have never experienced this) I occaisionally understand their plight as they often work long days and probably become irritated easily. Nonetheless, that is no excuse for slacking in the nice department. In the defense of park ops everywhere; everyone pays to get into the park, everyone waits in the long lines, but if everyone requested to sit in the front seat, such would be virtually impossible.
