Review of Rockin Tug @ Knoebels
2 Rating Posted by: SLFAKE on 5/27/2003 8:44:00 AM
Remember the theme from "Gilligans Island"... "And the tiny ship was tossed"... and the footage of the Minnow bouncing around on the waves with Gilligan and the Skipper being thrown around the deck? That pretty much describes the action of this ride. It is basically shaped like a tug boat with a seating configuration very similar to the Galleon. While it rocks back and forth on its "cradle" shaped track, it also rotates from the center point. In the "bow" and "stern" you get the most movement, while in the center I assume you are practically turning in circles while the boat rocks back and forth. Not an extremely fast and thrilling ride, those with equilibrium problems may wish to avoid this because it can make you dizzy. Kids will love this because for them it could be considered a "big ride" (a non kiddie ride) and adults will find it fun. My wife and I couldnt stop laughing.

[putting on my Cynical hat] Look at the locations... Knoebels, Santas Village and Six Flags Over Georgia. I can see where the one at SFOG is getting lower ratings... Six Flags are "Thirll Parks" (or at least want to be). Many of the folks that are visting them are looking for an experience different from Knoebels and Santas Village. To many Six Flags Loyal Patrons, if it isnt a 200 foot tall white knuckle coaster, it isnt anything. [Removes Cynical hat]

Good point. But SFOG has always had a mix of family atractions and thrill rides. look at Monster plantation. Too bad they have to let there narow mindedness get in the way of a good ride.

I rated Rockin Tug a 3 because I thought it was the weakest of the flat rides package that the park got that year (Scrambler, Wave Swinger, Balloons and this). I just didnt think that it aligned well against the others, and its a type of ride that Im not going to go out of my way to ride, like when I was at Knoebels.

Ok, you look at it like that. but Do you think that the other posters raited it against the other flats they got? Im not trying to put any one down just suprised it was that much lower.
