This is a fun ride. It’s one of only a few that still operates with the canvass cover. A great classic that is still in good condition. Though seems to be a bit slower then it used to be.

Some people swear this used to go backward. Which it certainly has not in the last five years. So I usually accuse them of confusing it with Matterhorn.

I never recall this running backwards, and last time I rode it was over 10 years ago. But what I do recall more than anything else is the canvas cover slamming shut as the ride picked up speed. That feature is what maintains the true classic aspect of this ride and I concure with mrceagles score. If you can ride a caterpillar with operating cover, a real tumble-bug and carousel with an operating ring machine, than a claim as a traditional park aficianado is complete (or pretty damn close.)

Bumprnougit - I am a Brass ring Carousel away for your standing. But I can through a Whip and the Wonder Wheel to buffer that. there is a brass ring Carousel in Cap Cod, MA I'.m trying to get to.

KJack - A caterpillar never ran backwards. the gear box will not allow for it. A Matterhorn and a more modern version from Mack can run backwards.
