Review of Loch Ness Monster @ Busch Gardens Williamsburg

The drops on this ride have some nice negitive gs. The loops are not too rough and if your lucky you might even interlock with another train. It is a truly amazing experience to watch a train going through a loop around you while you are going for a loop as well. A nice ride.

I just wanted to say that I did in fact experience what I described in my review. I was riding and as the train was getting to the top of the second lift I saw that another train was coming. We actually interlocked. It was one of the best coaster experiences I ever had! Thats the only time I saw it happen. It is quite a rare event.

I have rode the Loch Ness Monster about 30 times and never had it interlock. I wish i could ride it when they interlock.

i hate it when a ride is capable of doiong something but it never happens. im sure if the ride ops could time it right each time the two trains would interlock. Another thing i dont like is that the chiller cant duel since the power would black out new jersey if they used both launches. ud think they would plan ahead and use an alternative power source

i didnt know that about the chiller. interesting
MagnumMan on 9/3/2002 8:44:33 PM said:
yeah, LOL thats REALLY funny. whats the point of building two then? idots
B&M Rider on 9/4/2002 6:35:25 PM said:
yea, its really dumb. also on rcdb it says the ride duration for batman is about 30 seconds while the duration for robin is 40
MagnumMan on 9/5/2002 7:58:57 PM said:
thats sad that designers will make riders wait 1-2 hrs. for a 30-40 second ride. this is especially true for B&R: The Chiller as its been plauged with long lines since its opening 5 yrs. ago! Premier Rides really needs to improve this ride in more ways than one (LOL- if SFGA runs both tracks, itll black out all of NJ LOLLOLLOL That is too funny!)

ive been to great adventure where rides like nitro and medusa are practically walk-ons, while chiller still has a half hour wait. and if u wait for the front row, itll take forever. however B&M tries their hardest to make the lines move fast. Nitro runs 3 trains, each train holding about 40 ppl. B&Ms batman clones r a different story...they run only 2 trains, each holding 30 ppl. So theyre newest coasters have much larger ride capacities. and theyre still improving it!
MagnumMan on 9/5/2002 9:47:20 PM said:
WOW! Now THATS ridiculous!
Costr Craz on 9/6/2002 5:17:12 PM said:
Nitro holds 36 ppl per train.
B&M Rider on 9/6/2002 7:21:55 PM said:
yea i know, i said "Nitro runs 3 trains, each train holding about 40 ppl"
Costr Craz on 9/6/2002 8:05:49 PM said:
yea i know that you know.
MagnumMan on 9/7/2002 12:48:23 PM said:
that needs to be re-evaluated quickly [B&R-The Chiller]. Like NOW cause that is seriously ridiculous to the core!
B&M Rider on 9/7/2002 2:15:07 PM said:
LOL yea i know. the main problem is its a launched coaster, it can only run 1 train unless they built dueling loading stations, but when will six flags do that? probably never. they should also give rolling thunder some rehab. it only runs the right side cuz probably the left side is infested with termites or something. the ride looks like itll collapse any day now
MagnumMan on 9/7/2002 2:37:47 PM said:
MAN. it sounds like great adventure doesnt take one bit of care in the rides. they need to clean it up. LOLtermitesLOL
B&M Rider on 9/7/2002 9:39:22 PM said:
six flags parks in general dont take care of their rides. cedar fair is just the opposite. dorney parks thunderhawk was built is 1923 and it looks like it was built in 1995. it also gives a pretty smooth ride. rolling thunder (aka rotting lumber) was built in 1979, and its looks like it was made in 1923
Tucci on 9/7/2002 11:28:42 PM said:
Yea its true, but thats enough GrAdv bashing guys! As bad as Rolling Thunder looks, I still think it gives a great ride. And anyway, it would be stupid if the two rides were launched at the exact same time on B&R:TC. It wasnt meant to be like that. Robins track is longer than Batmans, causing it to be a longer ride than Batman. (a cobra roll on robin compared to a top hat on batman) loading-wise, theres really nothing great adventure can do about the chiller. its kinda like a boomerang on steroids, and we all know boomerangs dont run more than 1 train, and the same goes for b&r:tc. So I mean great adventure is one of the last parks you should complain at about lines. Look at CP 2 and 1/2 hours for one coaster and they have like 5 more coasters that GrAdv. How about MM? Again about 5 more coasters than GrAdv, still huge lines on X. Six Flags Great Adventure may have some lines, but it aint any different than the rest of the parks in the country.

im not really a gadv basher at all, its actually my home park. but after going to dorney, i realized how much better cedar fair is at running parks. im not mad at gadv, but more like all six flags parks in general and the way theyre run. im only using gadv as an example
B&M Rider on 9/7/2002 11:46:25 PM said:
oh yea and i must add, nitros lines go so fast that ur never on line for more than an hour, even when the line is backed up all the way to the entrance. same with medusa also.
Twirlnhurl on 9/7/2002 11:55:47 PM said:
The reason X has rediculouselines is not running it to capasity and the inharent slow loading of the ride. I think they need to make a dual station-dubble stationed 4D. (By dubble station I mean it loads and unloades in different areas. [dueling dragons])
B&M Rider on 9/8/2002 12:01:39 AM said:
B&M is good with theyre flyers. theyre patenting a newer, faster way to load/unload the trains, and S:UF has a double loading station

B&M Rider is right. I dont think SF takes care of their parks either. Very few are kept properly (i.e- SF Darien Lake, SF Over Texas) and some are just completly unacceptable (SF Worlds Of Adventure). Another thing is that SFs choices of coasters are exellent but when they get them, they dont ever seem to load in an timely matter. The only exceptions i see are Nitro, Medusa, and Batman Knight Flight. Besides that, SF needs to pick it up a bit
B&M Rider on 9/9/2002 5:04:21 PM said:
yea ur right...and also, has anyone told six flags that themeing can sometimes help? take a look at batwing what surprised me the most about this ride is that little blue station is supposed to have a BATMAN THEME!

woah i cant work this link at all? whats wrong with it?
MagnumMan on 9/9/2002 7:30:05 PM said:
that is truly sad but then again I noticed SFA wasnt very high on theming in the first place LOL
