Review of California Screamin @ California Adventure
-1 Rating Posted by: Skeeter on 1/5/2002 3:12:00 AM
I was forced to go on this ride, and had no idea as to what was in store. From the very beginning when the rollercoaster car is launched at full speed, I was terrified. Furthermore, no Disney ride I have ever heard of goes upside down. I was truly crying throughout this ride. I am sure that die-hard rollercoaster afficianados love this ride, but for us veteran Disney theme park goers, this is one to avoid.

Kinda interesting.. he makes a good point.. aside from the Rock n Roller coaster its the only disney ride I know of that really inverts. In the same respect, the park is sorta of a Boardwalk type atmosphere, so a coaster being there isnt that surprising. One thing though, you must have known what you were getting into.. You can see the launch and the inversion on the way to the ride, hmph.. Seph makes a good point though... best 1 review ive read as well

Um...actually, more than 2 rides go upside down. Here look. #1 - California Screamin (DCA) #2 - Rock N RollerCoaster (MGM) #3 - Space Mountain (DLP) #4 - Indiana Jones And The Temple Of Peril (DLP) #5 - Rock N RollerCoaster (DSP). So there Mark, there are 5 rides that invert (complete and legal inversions). Not to sound like Im bragging. TOGO_Fan

I have to say that Skeeter does an excellent job of expressing her opinion of this ride. Even though her opinion is in total contrast to that of my own, if everyones opinions was the same, then I spoze we wouldnt need a message forum. Which brings up another point: Can you imagine what it would be like if the ride manufacturers designed their rides such that they would not exceed the limits of excitement of every person on earth. What we would have are rides, which have no thrill at all. So the fact that the rides do not appeal to everyone is actually a good thing. So what I say to Skeeter and all the Skeeters of the world is go ahead and have fun and enjoy yourselves on Mulholland Madness, Muppet Vision and Star Tours while the adrenaline junkies do their thing on Millennium Force, Goliath and Alpengeist. So now we can all be happy.

Oh come on, California Screamin is a tame coaster. Id hate to see what youd do on a B&M! No offense, but this review is possibly the funniest one Ive ever seen.

I think its a compleatly valid review. It is a extreme ride for disney standards. (RNRC is more so, but still...) It is one of the longest coasters in the world and has a high speed layout. The ride attemps to satisfy everyone with its variety of elements, a loop, a helix, a launch, a few good drops... The only people it dosent satisfy is people scared of coasters.

Is it the content of Skeeters review or her opinion of the ride that people object to? Are people not allowed to post their opinions, which are different from others? I personally think Skeeter does and excellent job of writing this review based upon her own experience. It certainly isnt the opinion of everyone but she is entitled to express it. I do think the California Screamin is very well engineered ride for a Disney Park and the number of people standing in line for it supports this statement. But I also understand that there are some Disney theme park goers like Skeeter who dont like these kind of rides and I respect that.

Hey some people have different taste in coasters! Dont make fun. The only thing that bothers me about reviews is if low reviews are given with little explenation. There were good reasons listed for this rating so I respect your review. Sorry about your experience. Good luck with future coasters!

Screamin is a great ride, tame, but great, like someone said before you can clearly see the entire ride without doing it. Anyway Screamin is not a 1. period
