The Tidal Wave is a steel sit down roller coaster. (Boomerang). It was built by Vekoma in 1986. It has 6 inversions. It goes forwards and backwards through inversions. It is 125' tall, it is 875' long. It is fast, fun, rerideable, it has a large capacity, and a long duration.

I think its a pretty good boomerang, not too rough to actually be painful. I absolutly love this coaster because when we go to ocean city its been a month since i went to Cedar Point and I usually dont go to another amuisement park until august so this really satisfys my craving for a coaster and i have to agree the loop backwards is the best.

Afater all these years, I finally got to ride a boomerang yesterday. I didnt think it was half-bad either, but it certainly wasnt good at that! What really stinks about this ride was the loading. Im not sure the requirement as far as number of riders it takes to run, but I think they simply let the first few passengers sit down, wait five minutes for any other passengers, and then let the train go. I didnt like it, especially with the all-day-wristband expiring at 6 ockloak and me wanting to ride as much as possible. As far as the ride goes, the first lift is cool because its backwards and gives a great view of the boardwalk, ocean, and other amusement parks. The drop is alright, followed by an awfully rough cobra roll, solid loop and second hill. The loop backward is probably the rides best inversion, but the preceeding cobra roll is brutal again. The pain really wasnt too bad. I was expecting pure hell and got purgatory I guess. Granted, I was way too tall for me to experience headbanging, but I thought the cobra roll was the only bad part. I did not like the non-padded seats which really hurt your butt through that cobra roll. Overall my first boomerang was okay, but certainly nothing special. And where are these 5.2 Gs RCDB says they pull?

This was my first looping roller coaster so i love this ride. If you sit in the back seat, you get a better view and a much more intense and smooth ride. The loop backwards is the best!

Standard Vekoma Boomerang. Not too rough up front... didnt ride the back. In away, I kind of wish the OLD style Wild Mouse that in the 1970s sat where the Tidal Wave now sits today would still be there. Boomerangs are a dime common... but the old style Mice (Schiff?) are nearly all gone.

This one is definitely worth taking a spin - the weird sensation of being lifted backwards, then zooming through the loading platform is a thrill in itself! The layout is great, too - and the loops are smooth and enjoyable.

Ive riden Tidal Wave many times over the years and I find that the roughness varies year by year. Even though the coaster isnt that high, it will still get your anticipation going because you can see all of downtown Ocean City from the top. Great ride for a beach attraction.

I worked on the Tidal Wave last summer, I thought the ride was great being a little bias here, but this is the first rollercoaster I have riden, and I did this under pressure as I would be woring on the ride. It reaches speeds of 70 mph on the downward 135ft slope. Great ride, P.S best position to ride: The back seats! Love Caroline ...Coaster girl! Oh hi to all those who ventured onto the ride in summer 2001..i would have taken your tickets!!

Fairly good boomerang with three inversions. Good speed and good height. Absolutely worth the ride.
