The launch and vertical spike are the only positives of this ride. Still no doubt awesome, but not in my top five.
Out of all the rides at Great America, some were good, others were great, but there's one coaster I'll never forget. It's this one. Nothing in the park even comes close to the rush of adrenaline this ride has to offer. It has it all. The launch from 0-65 mph in less than 4 seconds, the two drops, and the ominous height. What's even better is that this ride crosses the line between scary and fun perfectly. It's intense enough to please thrill seekers, but also enjoyable enough for the average rider. Everyone always says "Raging Bull" is the best of the park and they claim how great it truly is. Us "V2" riders know the REAL best ride of the park. This one's a must-ride.
Great ride, but huge line. Fantastic acceleration, and nerve-wracking to not see the track when headed backwards. You keep thinking, "I hope there's enough track back there for this run..."
Use a "skip the line pass" for this one or make sure to visit first thing. I still miss my "Tidal Wave", upon which this ride was based, which was removed 20 years ago.
V2: Vertical Velocity is a steel roller coaster. It is a impulse LIM shuttle. It was built by Intamin in 2001. It is 185' tall, it is 630' long, it travels at speeds of 70 mph. It was fast, fun, rerideable, had a large ride capacity, was nicely themed, long ride duration and a must ride for the park.
The have removed the brake section on the vertical spire, which to me makes the ride less intense.
You will hear the air release, seconds before you launch. The ride is pretty good, because you get accelerated up to speed almost instantly. On the second pass to the rear tower, you are locked in and held for a second, before being dropped. The front row is a good seat to look straight down. Only one train, so long lines, can mean big wait time.
It shoots you out without warning. My first Impulse Coaster experience, and definitely not my last! Enjoyed every second of it. Next on my list: Wicked Twister at Cedar Point!
I LOVE rollercoasters that get launched out of the station!! This is a great ride and I wasnt expecting the part where the train stops a little bit that was SCARY!!!
it is one of my favorite rides but it tends to get boring after the 13th time you ride it.
A true yawner, the overgrown flat doesnt thrill me in the least. The tiered launch surely doesnt help, as a 0-50 with a half twist up a spike simply approaches lame. Fortunately, the middle part of the ride is slightly redeeming, but even then, the holding brake simply sucks and once again destracts from the ride. Id never wait more than 15 minutes for the ride to begin with, and I cant even say that Id ride it on future trips unless it was a walk on and I had time to spare.
