Its a great indoor ride. It looks like your really going back in time around the ozark area. The town is on fire and there are noises going on. Drop! out of no where you drop and begin to go faster, another drop into blackness. Flying through a train light shines in your eyes drop.....Fire in the hole!!! big flame catches your eyes but you drop into a wet surprise!! wont give that part away!

What can I say about Fire in the hole? Its a classic. It might need a bit of a makeover and an update as far as the props but thats ok. It is the perfect blend of a dark ride and roller coaster. Something the whole family can enjoy! great!

My favorite ride! I can never get enough of it. It's calm and nice. I love when you go "under" the train. Every time I duck even though I don't need to! So much fun!

Date Ridden: May of 2007 Times Ridden: 1 Fire in the Hole is very similar to Blazing Fury at Dollywood. People constantly debate the whole "dark ride versus coaster" thing but the fact of the matter is that each of these two rides is on par with a good family coaster. Granted this version offers a little bit of history with the "baldknobbers" I think it is called but the ride itself is slightly less entertaining than the Dollywood version. Still, the lines are normally short, its cool inside, and by riding you get another credit!! Plus its smooth, entertaining, and a good way to relax. Fire in the Hole gets the family score of 5.

I believe it was one of the first indoor coasters in the country. It is pretty run down and in need of a make-over, but still fun. The ending is a blast, especially in the back.

There was a time when I just wanted steep and fast coaster rides. But this darkhouse ride/fun coaster hybrid has always has a special place in my heart. Considering how old it is and when it was designed - this is along the novelty lines of something Disneys WED Enterprises (of Haunted Mansion fame) would have dreamed up in the 50s. Its not a Cedar Point style thrill coaster, so you shouldnt even compare it to those. Its not a sluggish "Its A Small World" ride either. Its a fun family ride, perfect to get out of the noonday heat, has a couple interesting dips, and fully functional animatronics. If you want a classic quick fun ride that even grandma would enjoy, this is cool. If youre a steel monster coaster lover and think this attraction stinks because you consider it a kiddie ride, well, go review one of those instead.

It is my understanding, that this ride, along with the flooded mine are the only two remaining "original" rides that was built at SDC. this coaster holds alot of memories for me. I loved it when I was a kid, and still will ride it on occasion if all the other rides are full. It is not spectacular, but it is very well themed, and if you know the history behind it, it makes the ride alot more enjoyable.

Nice theme and I like how they did this ride. It was actually dark so you couldnt see when it was going to drop. It was a fun little ride but nothing outstanding.

It was ok, the fire was neat and some of the drops were pretty thrilling, but nothing to special about it.
