When those scientists several years back were looking to create Dolly, the sheep that introduced the world to cloning, they should have consulted with Vekoma. If theres anybody that knows about that subject, its them! And although some of their rides show up practically everywhere (or so it seems), I still give them some credit for coming up with the ideas that they do. Boomerangs are probably their most popular cloned coaster, and its pretty easy to see why. A ride on a boomerang is always the same - backwards lift, neat drop, cobra roll/boomerang/whatever they call it, vertical loop.....climb hill and repeat in reverse - but it is a novel idea that has remained quite popular with guests. I will concede that the more I ride these, the less impact they have on me, primarily because its so easy to come across them. Ive gotten to where a typical starting point for me to rate them is right in the middle with a 5, and then I go from there. Darien Lakes Boomerang is above average as far as these things go, so it gets a bump up a little higher. It has a neat setting near the central lake, and as usual the drops are good along with navigating the inversions backwards. The trains arent the most comfortable, which Im not a huge fan of. And although this one still has a couple spots that can provide a jolt, for the most part its pretty smooth, so thats a positive. I often wonder though what a B&M boomerang would be like. Anyway, Darien Lakes version is an above average coaster and certainly hands out a fun ride that has what youd expect from a boomerang, including some moderate thrills.

This probably was one of the best boomerangs out there. The first drop as always was fast and gave a minor stomach dropping sensation and after that I expected a rough ride, but I was wrong. While the elements didnt seem to be as forceful as usual, they were glass-smooth and there was no headbanging. Ill take that anyday and it was the same going backwards.

The Boomerang is a steel sit down roller coaster. (Boomerang). It was built in 1998. by Vekoma. It has 6 inversions. It is 125' tall, it is 875' long, it is fun, rerideable. Capacity large. Ride duration long.

Everybody is familiar with these standard Vekoma Boomerang coasters, so there is not too much to say here. I generally find them reasonably enjoyable, and this one was perhaps slightly better than the norm. It wasnt quite as forceful as some others, but probably for that reason I didnt experience any roughness or unpleasantness either. If you add to that the non-existent line that I encountered, as well as the nice setting, Id say go ahead and give it a ride.

This is probably the smoothest boomerang that I have been on, so far. That is what pushes this ride up to a 6. However, once youve done one boomerang coaster, youve pretty much done them all.

I give it a 10 because of the drop, the smoothness, and the backseat. Id give any other boomerang a 9 because you hit you shoulders. the only other good one is at the great escape!

just a typical boomerang, but as Danny points out the sitting in the back row gives an intense feeling when going backwards through the loop

This was my first boomerang, and I was really surprised at how thrilling it really is. The drop is great in the back seat, and the inversions are very fun. While going backwards in the last seat, the loop is just incredible.
