I'm surprised this ride is still running. Load times are slow, the restraint system looks like something out of a mad scientists basement, and it's dated. The Japanese are great at making a lot of things, but roller coasters just have never been one of them. As others have mentioned, if you're in the back of the train, the first drop does provide some awesome airtime. The loop generates some nice positive Gs as well. From there, it's all down hill... It's painful, jerky, and a headbanger. My neck was sore afterwards. And the banking on the first helix seems really off- it's overbanked by at least 15 degrees in my opinion. And correct me if I'm wrong, but I think someone was thrown out of this thing many years ago.

Worst Togo stand-up Ive been on. Loading was very slow as usual for this stand-up, but the first drop was great and gave good air. The following vertical loop gave very strong Gs as well. After that however was a rough helix. Finally there were a series of bunny hills and while some gave good air, there were some rough spots during them.

i personally didnt think shockwave was as bad as i thought it would be. the ride itself was fun and the first drop was exciting. the only problems are it was WAY too short and the loading time is very long. other than that, i noticed no unbearable roughness, just some slight jerking at some spots

Shockwave probably shouldve been scrapped long ago. Its got a decent first half, but I dont think park-goers would shed any tears if it was removed. The restraints are stiff and uncomfortable. Riders should make sure that theyre in a good position before they lock you in. Loading always goes pretty slow, hence the line always spilling out onto the walkway. The climb and the view of the park are nice. As is the drop and the vertical loop. The helix is pretty fun if you like gs.

From there on the ride is terrible. Those bunny hops are jerky and mechanical. Someone should give Togo a lesson on shaping hills or something. The uncomfortable restraints dont help as your thrown into them on those hills. I dont even know why theyre there. Does bunny hills on a ride where youre in a standing position really make much sense? I almost gave Shockwave a 4, because the first half is kind of fun, but the load time, uncomfortable restraints, and horrendous finale bring it down a notch. Its also pretty short. Final Rating - 3.5 (Bad Approaching Below Average)

I was shocked at how much I enjoyed Shockwave after many people wrote negative reviews for this Togo stand-up coaster. Located in the Grove section of the park in the center of Paramount Kings Dominion, Shockwave is the first stand-up coaster I have ever been on. With some trees next to Shockwave, it mainly has a sky blue paint job with some sections of the track painted in many different colors. From off the ride, the first drop and loop looked fun. Shockwave had a 15 minute wait when I visited Paramount Kings Dominion because of very slow loading and unloading times thanks to the wierd restraints. The orange trains had blue headrests and yellow chest and shoulder restraints along with a lap bar. During the ride, you can straddle the seat and stand up or sit down. The restraints were very wierd, but I didnt find them uncomfortable. Beginning Shockwave was a slow climb up a 95ft tall lift hill, followed by a U-turn to the right. Then Shockwaves train zooms down the 90ft first drop which provides some excellent air-time for back-seat riders. Following that is a vertical loop that creates some strong Gs followed by a large hill giving front seat riders some air-time. Then Shockwaves train travels through an intense helix creating some powerful Gs, followed by a bunny hill giving some more air-time, followed by a turn-around hill giving front-seat riders more air-time. I did find this turnaround to be somewhat rough, but other than that I found Shockwave to be pretty smooth. Then the train travels down a small dip giving back-seat riders more air-time, followed by 2 more bunny hills providing air-time. Finally, Shockwaves train flies up a small hill again giving front seat riders some air-time before hitting the brake run, ending the ride. Overall, a fun and unique coaster that was much better than I had expected. Maybe I was one of the few people who enjoyed this Togo stand-up, but anyone who hasnt tried a Togo stand-up coaster should give it a shot.

This ride is rough, short, and boring. Enough said.

While I did not find this ride as rough as most people, I did find it too be a bit boring. The first drop is cool, the loop is average, but the final helix is great. In all, this is very standard fare. For my first stand-up I wasnt that impressed, but I was glad that it didnt beat me up!

The restraint system does not bother me at all. Its a fun coaster with all those bunny hops and a few drops. Very short though.

This coaster was a very good attraction when it opened. It has good air time, good hills, and good inversions. It cant be compared to the bigger stand up coasters of today because of its size and layout its rougher then other stand up coasters. The restraint system is uncomfortable and outdated and needs to be redone in my opinion.
