This ride is a mite rough, but very, very enjoyable. Not bad air, and a pretty well-rounded ride.

Second favorite woodie in the park. The Waynes World theming was pointless in my opinion, but the ride was relatively smooth throughout and the first drop gave great air, as did most of the following few bunny hills.

Hurler was my favorite ride at Paramount Kings Dominion and one of my favorite wooden coasters. Located in the back right area of the park in the Grove section, Hurler is a long wooden roller coaster painted light brown. From off the ride, Hurler looks exciting with the steep first drop followed by a low-to-the-ground banked curve and a series of bunny hills that looked like they would be packed with air-time. I soon would learn that they were. Hurler has a very long queue line that passes in between the series of bunny hills. Luckily, Hurler was a walk-on when I visited Paramount and its station was deserted for most of the day. Themed to Waynes World, Hurler has a giant gray station with the Paramount logo and Sound Stage 31 written on the side of the building. Inside the station are a variety of words written on the wall and some props hanging down from the ceiling. Running only 1 sky blue train, the Hurler has a lap bar and seatbelt restraint like the rest of Paramounts major wooden coasters. The train sat 28 people and my favorite seat was the back. The front is also very good, but the back generally has a shorter wait. Hurler loaded quickly and after my restraint was checked, the train rolled out of the station and approached the 83ft tall lift hill. The lift hill was quick and provided decent views of HyperSonic XLC and Ricochet on the way up. At the top, Hurler slowly rounds a U-turn to the right, followed by a steep plunge ejecting backseat riders. Following that was a relatively smooth banked turn low to the ground that was relatively smooth. Then Hurler flew over 3 consecutive bunny hills providing some nice bursts of air for front seat riders and back seat riders also got some nice air-time. Following that was another banked turn very low to the ground followed by another bunny hill again providing some good floater air for riders in all seats. Afterwards is a small turn-around hill followed by another air-time producing air-time hill followed by yet another banked turn low to the ground. Hurler then soars over one final bunny hill again giving decent air-time before hitting the brake run, ending the ride. Overall, Hurler was an excellent wooden coaster and my favorite ride at Paramount Kings Dominion. I highly recommend Hurler to anyone who enjoys air-time filled wooden coasters. Many people have complained that Hurler was rough, but after being retracked earlier this year, Hurler was very smooth and people who disliked it before should give it a second chance.

The scenery is nice. The coaster gives a pretty decent ride with a unique layout and some airtime. It does not wow you, but it is an all around good ride.

I will currently give Hurler a 4 because I think its the worst wooden at PKD. Ive never been to PKD as an enthusiest (but many times as a "regular" guest) so I really cant give you a good description, (Gs, headchoppers, turns, pain, etc.) but I do remember that Hurler isnt a bad coaster, but it deffinitely isnt a good one either.

EDIT: Man was I wrong about Hurler. On Saturday at PKD I got BY FAR THE BEST wooden coaster rides at PKD on Hurler. I believe that the 2006 retracking must have helped this ride leaps and bounds, because I got a very nice ride with some insane laterals and some very good airtime on ALL the hops. No, there was not a whole lot of air on any hop, but wow, was it nice to have a whole ride filled with airtime. The first drop even has a little air, mixed with some good positive Gs on the base of the drop. I remember Hurler being very rough last time, but on Saturday the only rough part was the second to last turn around, but even that was alright. The first turn is banked, but by no means are the lateral Gs hurt by it because when I tried to leave my hands in the air on that turn, half of my body shifted from the right seat to the left seat! That moment totally made my day. This ride looks a lot like Thunder Run at SFKK, which I rode a couple weeks ago, and this isnt quite as good. The airtime over the first half of TR is a lot better, but the thing about Hurler is it has air over the whole ride. I found it totally re-ridable, even in the back seat, and I got 4 rides in a row on Hurler Saturday. The ride also has some theme left over (specifically in the station) even though most has been removed. Still its well-themed for a wooden.

So anyway, I dont know what I was thinking giving this a 4, maybe this ride has gotten better or I have just changed my mind. Whatever the reason Hurler seems to be a good ride now.

Hurler is a two-faced wooden coaster. The one face features some awesome ejector air on most of the hills and a wild ride to boot. The other face features some brain shaking sharp turns. If the ride had been any rougher than it was, it would have lost a point. However, any coaster with that much air deserves at least a 7 in my book. So ride this if like being tossed out of your sit, but watch out for those turns!

Some drops and very rough turns. Pretty intense stuff.

Since this isnt a popular ride, the line is always short. This is a nice wooden coaster and quite rough (for me, rough is fun). Quite a bit of turns that knock you pretty hard and an overall good wooden rollercoaster experience. The walkway to get to the ride though is the longest walkway in the entire park which is pointless since there arent enough people who ride this to require such a long walkway.
