Date ridden: Summer and Fall of 2007. Times Ridden: 2 Since this ride is going the way of the Dinosaur, I though I might need to go ahead and get this review posted since I do have a number of positive comments. First, HXLC had (and Im speaking in past tense here) one of the most insane launches of any coaster I have ridden including TTD, KK, Xcelerator, and Superman: Escape. When this baby kicked in, you were absolutely pinned to your seat. The forces one felt were absolutely insane. The 100 foot hill offered a spot of airtime and the overbanked turn some intense laterals. Following that is the small hill with the brake run on the other side. That was a typical 20 second ride on HXLC. Now, lets look at the problems which led to the downfall of this ride. The complaints most people had were valid. The capacity on this thing was beastly. WIth only 2 train operation and only 8 seats per train, you were going to have at least a 1 hour wait at any time of the day. Also, HXLC was extremely uncomfortable when compared to the Intamin launched coasters. The turn was brutal on the ears and the stop was painful even if one were prepared. Also, when visiting KD, you were hit or miss on even getting to ride this. We actually skipped Volcano to hit this first since it is common knowledge the ride went down normally 2 or 3 times per day. So with the capacity, ride problems, and the umcomfortable forces generated by the ride why do I still give it an 8? The launch, dude....the launch! In my humble opinion, there is not a more powerful launch in the US. That in itself makes this coaster worth an 8 despite its many shortcomings.

Fun prototype launch coaster, but not as great as I had hoped. This is a capacity nightmare and I agree that the restraints arent the most comfortable. The launch was exceptionally powerful and it really pinned me to my seat and then there was good air coming over the top and some great ejector air coming down. Afterwards were two rough turns and then a great air-time producing bunny hill.

Much ado about nothing pretty much sums up this coaster experience for me. This ride is all hype and no substance. There is a good launch and then the ride is pretty much over.

Great launch, very shaky going over the hill, smooth on the way down, then super rough after that. Poor track design.

Gotta give it a good score since the blast was so freakin intense I dont even remember how it felt. Id say the blast is the most thrilling feeling ever on a coaster. In fact, this is the only rollercoaster Im scared of riding. But, thats all it is. You gotta wait forever, the ride operation is slow as hell, and I usually dont want to ride it cuz Im scared or the line is too long. Definitely worth it once.

Wow, this was a very wierd ride. I can best describe it as: insane, average, and torture. The launch is absolutely incredible. You barely realize that your moving and all of a sudden, your already at the hill. It is quiet and as smooth as glass too. Best launch Ive been on. Now the wierd stuff begins: Going up the hill these oversized lap bars rammed down into my thighs even more than they already were (I was pretty stappled in the first place) So I was basically way too stappled to get any air at the top of that verticle hill. I also think that the strait section of track is over too quickly. You barely have time to enjoy the insane launch. After the hill is where the pain starts and lot of it. Who knew a banked turn and small bunny hops could be THIS bad? Well, they were and I was really ready to get off as soon as it was done, because the restraints were ramming into my quads even more. Overall, this ride is above average only because of the out-of-this-galaxy launch, but I really think this coaster was built a little too early. It could have been much better with a perfected second half. Plus it barely even ran for two seasons.

Ok, the score is how I feel about the overall experience. First of all the line was forever, definitely over 2 hours long. When I was nearing the queue line there was downtime and we had to wait 30 more minutes for them to fix something (but Flashdance was playing which was cool). Then the ride finally starts, Im incredibly nervous. The launch was amazing, so scary I dont even know what happened, then I come straight down and you fly into a curve. THATS IT! Too short. For such a long wait, I was very disappointed. If I didnt have to wait at all, I might give it an 8 but Id never go on this again unless the park was empty that day. Im glad I did it once and it was cool for just the one explosion.

Im sure a few years ago when this first opened this was an amazing ride. I remember first hearing about and thinking "They built what?!" But seeing it in person is a different experience altogether. It is so scary to ride, because it looks so poorly made. It is also such an ugly structure. The ride itself is not at all what was expected. A ride that is supposed to be known for its launch has a surprising weak launch. I have never ridden TTD or KK, but I have ridden Superman @ MM and that has a great launch. This rides launch is pretty weak, and so short. You go up the 90 degree hill which doesnt offer any airtime at all and then down and around and done. Thats it. It carries all of 8 friggin people! The line goes so slow and can be hours long. I personally think this gimmick has outlived its usefulness and must go. On top of the pretty worthless ride, it is painful and uncomfortable. WIth all the other great launchers out there, this falls by the wayside. The final indictment on this ride is that only two were ever built. PKD needs to replace this soon.
