This is an ok woodie that is scorned by a lot of people. It delivers some airtime. It is based on Wild Beast at Canada's Wonderland and Grizzly at Kings Dominion. But it was pretty rough.

This and the Predator are the two worst wooden coasters Ive been on. The layout looked promising, but there was no air at all during the ride and the entire ride was very bumpy and rough.

Uh oh, once again (along with Magic Mountains Psyclone) I am going to have to defend an apparently unanimously hated wooden coaster. Let me begin by saying that this is the first wooden coaster that I have not rated a 10, so the Grizzly is getting a "low" score from me. All I really ever hear about this coaster is that it has perhaps the worlds slowest turn-around after the first drop. The first drop, though, is pretty cool, as it is quite banked at the bottom, even though it doesnt really curve. It is true, there is then an incredibly slow turn. However, this provided a moment for me (being new to Great America) to really look around the park. You are provided with a pretty good view, and this coaster is set amongst the trees, so it is very peaceful. It is the rest of the ride where I disagree with previous posts. Everyone keeps saying this ride is rough. Rough? I am not giving this ride a 10 because it was so exceedingly tame. It was pretty slow and smooth and didnt have many major changes in elevation or turns. It is kind of what I would imagine a scenic railway feeling like. I took the opportunity to really enjoy this though. I love some brutality in a wooden coaster, but Ive been on some truly relentless woodies lately, so I kind of enjoyed the break. Grizzly joins a small group in the category of forceless, pleasant wooden coasters.

IMHO it is 90 secconds of utter pain, really, Ive had more fun going to the dentist then on this hunk of firewood. It occupies a large space, so I really cant see why the park cant get a better woodie put in.

Every time I go to this park I end up riding this pile and wondering why I bothered. I is a VERY rough ride and a total dissapointment from beginning to end

Why is this ride so rough? Im a big fan of wooden coasters, but the Giant Dipper in Santa Cruz is 10 times smoother than this and its over 80 years old. It just seems like bad workmanship. There are a couple fun parts. The first drop is great, but the second hill is so high up that the train hardly has enough momentum to get to the top. A ride like this should never have any slow points. Its not terrible, but it could be far better.

This ride is very bumpy, but it still delivers some pretty good airtime on the drops.

This is by far the worst ride I have ever been on. It is extremely painfull. The first drop cuts to the left and barley makes it to the top of the next hill. After that the ride is completely boring. I know a coaster is suppossed to shake, but this thing thrusts back and forth like there is an earthquake. It looks like the ride is going to crumble. It NEEDS to be replaced!
