Viper is one heck of a ride and is the most forceful ride I've ever been on. The drop gives a surprising amount of air and you pull some crazy Gs at the bottom. Right before the brake run you get a really strong pop of ejector air. The boomerang and the double corkscrew gives some nice hangtime. This ride is relentless and brutal and isn't for the faint of heart. It's the most intense ride in the park and I still ask myself why I ride it. The answer is that the brutality and surprising speed of the thing somehow gives me a huge boost of adrenaline. I just wish it was smoother because my head doesn't like playing ping pong with the restraints. It is the last of the 3 mighty mega loopers built by arrow, and I beg six flags too keep it here, just some trackwork and new trains would be nice.

Viper is a great coaster with a great capacity, line moves very quickly with two trains. When compared to other Arrow Mega Loopers (GASM in this case) it's very smooth, with only some head banging in the corkscrews and the last awkwardly placed turn. I ride it every time I go, mainly for nostalgic purposes. I hope to see this ride running for many more years! I love seeing it next to it's younger cousin X2.

What can I say? I love Viper. Maybe it was those days years back watching a VHS of America's Greatest Roller Coaster Thrills and seeing Ron Toomer go through the design of the ride with a coat hanger and calling it a "high speed ride all the way." I don't know, but Viper is almost always saved as my last ride of the day, and may in fact be my favorite steel coaster in the park. But let me say it, give it more than one shot. My first trip on Viper was fun but a bit painful, and I've learned how best to use the OTS restraints and keeping my head back, I have none of the head banging issues some complain of. The first drop is pretty cool as you get to the top of the lift hill you look out and see no more track, unless you look to your left of course, but it's a great feeling that makes you feel like you are about to drop off into nothing but the desert in front of X2. Then you dive to the left and you're in for a number of inversions, first up a rather high (once record breaking) and tight loop. By the time you hit a couple more loops and head into the brake run even the most seasoned rider may find their head a bit dizzy, the brakes being a nice albeit quick break from the action. The cobra roll is a cool sight and is next on your agenda before you hit those wonderful back to back corkscrews you've seen on so much SFMM merchandise over the years. The tops of those corkscrews offer as good of airtime as a mega looper will allow, a real highlight. It's slithering track certainly earns itself the 'Viper' name, though no other theming adds to this element, and you dive underneath the life hill to come into the final brake run. The lines are short, the ride isn't the smoothest but certainly not bad for a 7-inversion Arrow ride, and it certainly, as Mr. Toomer put it, is a high speed ride all the way through. Also, check out films like "True Romance" and "Encino Man" for cameos from the ride.

When Viper opened back in 1990 it was a great coaster but time has not been a friend to this one. It has become rough and needs some serious overhauling.

This was horrible! I am a fan of arrow coasters, but this was a disaster. It was too long and I wanted it to end. My head hurt so much after ridding. I tolerated and enjoyed Shockwave at Six Flags Great America. This is almost as bad as Ninja at SFoG. I have a high ride pain tolerance too. I hated this thing. Too bad because the layout is excellent and is a great crowd drawer, but not worth the pain.

I had mixed feelings about Viper. It was really big and had a great variety of inversions, but the Arrow curse really shows here, causing great pain during the batwing and double corkscrews. Enjoy the first half, but beware of the second half.

One of my favorite rides of all time. The inversions were intense and the first drop was great. The ride may be rough but what do you expect from an Arrow looper. fantastic ride!!!

I really enjoyed this ride. It was very jerky, but I didnt have too many problems with my head banging around. It was my elbows. They got bruised pretty badly.

The ride was great though. Nice thrill. Very short line when I went on. In fact, I got double rides. I could have done a third, but I didnt want to get too shaken up.

Again, the track didnt seem to be smoothed out between curves and inversions. (worst part was the curve right before the corkscrews and the last part that goes under the lift)

Fun ride though. (better than Riddlers Revenge in my opinion)

This ride is very good. it could be a bit smoother, but that doesnt make me that upset. the first time i rode it, i loved it but from all of the head banging, i got a slight headache. i decided to come back later and try something to not have to get a headache again. i stuck my head out just a little, and it was all fine. it was a bit uncomfortable, but youre not thinking about that when you see many loops coming your way and thinking "Oh my god this is crazy." very good ride but definitely could be smoother.

How can there be so many good rides and bad rides in the same park? Well, this is one of those bad rides. The first part of this ride is actually quite good. Theres no headbanging on the first 3 loops. Once you hit the brake run that brings the train to a complete stop, it all goes downhill. As soon as you hit the cobra roll sidewinder thing, you know your in trouble. I got a major headache from the banging. The corckscrews are even worse. Why did arrow even make corckscrews? The corckscrews they make always bang your head. No matter what. In some ways, I was thankful for the brakes. Without them it would have been unbearably rough. Oh wait, it already is. It would have been even worse! I dont know what I was thinking when I rode this. Hmmm, mustve been desperate for credits.
