Wow letdown of the year slow lethargic unenergeticdefines the beast ride I had. The ride was braked on the first drop second hill and this giant shed with another brake at the very end another brake going into the "Ferocious double helix". I must have gotten the most unideal conditions possible caus the beast was good with about 2 things location/terrain and the helix even if it was slower than every pov I watched. Traveling through the woods at suburban street speeds is nice although I can only assume at high speeds with trees blurring past it would be great to slow now. The final helix was braked badly and it still delivered the highlight moment of the ride. Just my ride experience alone isn't enough to write of the beast but such potential possibly night rides redeeming it doubtful but a possibility , side note the ride wasn't rough just slow

An amazing wooden coaster- especially at night. Racing through the woods at over 60mph in total darkness is an experience no one should miss. Oh, and the helix at the end is a great way to finish the ride...

Today, i dont think the beast should be one of the top 10 wooden coasters. in the 80's, the beast was a MUST RIDE coaster. today it just beats you up and is nothing compared to the newer rides. still, it is a decent coaster that is worth one ride. emphasize one.

One of the best rollercoasters EVER BUILT, this ride stands today as the longest wooden coaster, and second longest coaster in the world.

It may beat you up, but it deserves another rider- You.

Although this rides kind of beats you up a bit, this is still a MUST RIDE at Kings Island. One of the best wooden roller coasters I have been on, that's for sure! The tunnels on the tracks and the trees surrounding the ride add major fun. The only problem with this ride is that I think it could be a bit faster. So that takes some points away. But any young person, or even middle aged people looking for a pretty fun starter coaster, this ride is for you.

Seeing videos of this on YouTube, I actually had pretty low expectations for this ride. It's layout looked really boring and it didn't seem to fast.

But I was more than pleasantly surprised, as this ride ROCKS! Right from the start, The Beast delivered. The lift hill had sounds of some forest creature roaring and it was cool how it seemed to stall at the top. The first drop, although not very steep, was great since there was a tunnel at the base. The airtime hill was pretty weak because of trims, but the as soon as I got off the brake run, I learned why this ride had such an awesome reputation. Twisting and turning through the forest was intense. It actually felt like the ride was getting faster and faster with each second. After the second lift, the train turned and gradually sped into what has become my favorite coaster element of all time. The Beast's helix finale was intense throughout and the lateral g's were amazing. This is a ride that everyone should ride at least once before they die.

Overall, I found this to be a very intense roller coaster. Contrary to what I've heard, I found The Beast to be pretty smooth for a woodie. I also must have rode it on a good day. Other than on the airtime hill, all the trims were either off or barely on. Unfortunately I only got to ride it once.

EDIT (6/14/09): Forget what I said about how smooth the Beast is. It's actually a pretty rought ride. After my return visit to King's Island, I was kind of disappointed by the Beast. It's not the roughness that got to me; it was how tame the ride is. At a couple different spots in the ride, I suddenly jerked foreward as the trim breaks destroyed the joy of this ride. The trim breaks are what made me mad, but if you're not young and able to take a hit, you may want to think twice before riding. The Beast isn't friendly.

I really enjoyed the beast. The best part was the end. You better be able to take a beating from the beast. The Beast is celebrating it's 30th anniversy in 2009!

This one is an instant classic. I personally prefer the Son, although I realize I am in the minority in that opinion. However, I give this a 9 for many reasons. Yes, it is quite rough. However, I am young and I can take the hits, so that does not subtract points.

The setting is great. It&#39.s really fun weaving through tunnels and trees. However, the only problem with this is that your view may be blocked by the headrests of those in front of you. To avoid this, try to get a seat in the front of the cars. Also, a front seat makes the ride a bit smoother, so I reccomend getting as close to the front as you can on this one.

The ending is spectacular. It is thrilling, well laid-out, and just overall memorable. Though the ride is long, it is by no means monotonous. you will be exhilerated every second of the ride, including the chain hills, which went at inconsistent speeds when I was on it. (I&#39.m not sure if this was intentional, but I enjoyed it, as it made the ride seem even less predictible) Anyhow, if you are afraid the Son of Beast will be too rough for you, this one is a perfect alternative. Even if you are an older rider, it is easy enough to put up with the rattling, so you can have the time of your life in the King of King&#39.s Island.

Were it not for the undue amounts of roughness that I experienced on this coaster, it would be amazing. Even so, it is a very good wooden coaster that is deserving of its reputation as a legendary ride. The setting for the ride is great, as you are essentially running (err, rolling) through the Ohio woods the entire ride. The course is unique in that, aside from the lifts, you are really never that far off the ground...almost the quintessential terrain coaster in that regard. The double helix after the 2nd lift is insane...crazy speed and laterals, as the Beast attempts to shred you one last time. Ah, but there is that roughness again. I wanted to put my hands up, but, desiring to prevent personal injury, I resisted this. All in all, The Beast is a coaster that I would agree every enthusiast should ride at least once, but one that does not find itself in my Top 10 by any stretch.

Well due to the roughness i felt on this ride, and the fact it lacks airtime nearly completely, the positves of this ride is how long it is, the fact it runs away from everything in the woods, maintains it speed other then the many trims on board the ride. In day this ride gets a 5 at night it gets a 9 so i gave it a 7. Must ride at night for a totaly differnt expreance!
