The Grande Carousel, like most park carousels, is an integral ingredient to Darien Lakes ride assortment, but overall its only slightly better than an average carousel. The look of this one just wasnt quite there. It was nice, but nothing really jumped out like some of the wonderful versions that reside closer to home at the PA parks (perhaps that has spoiled me somewhat). It didnt really have that old-fashioned feel either, which is something I cherish in this type of ride. It did run at a nice pace and there was no wait, which are positives. And overall, there was nothing "bad" about the ride.....its just that this misses the mark in comparison to some others out there. Still, carousels like this are always a fun ride, and I highly recommend them for kids and anyone looking to relax and take a little breather.
Well maintained carousel. Fun. Rerideable. Ride capacity large. Ride duration long.
Well, it was a nice attempt. The ride was billed as a classic carousel, but even though it is a 1964 model, it was not too majestic. The carvings were ok, at least it wasnt plastic, but still not among the best work from historical companies like PTC and Hershcell (Im not sure who made this one). The cycle was fair, and the line was nonexistant. They should run it a bit faster, but I still recommend it to kids, families or anyone looking for a few minutes of relaxation.
Not that bad of a carousel, Ive been on better.
This isnt that great of a carousel. Just your average carnival ride. But if you just want to ride somethting and you dont want to wait in line this is the place to go.
