I know chain letters are not really welcome here, but PhantomNk hit the nail on the head. I was astonished by the look of this thing. It is just this huge woodie (okay I know how wrong that sounds), and wraps around a sufficient amount of the park. The people on it are just going so fast, throwing their hands up; it is like a wooden coaster wet dream. Unfortunately, this is far from the case. Now I have a strong body. Give me the ricketiest coaster and I can probably handle it. Mean Streak lives up to its title... in the sense that it is mean to YOU. I have never shook, rattled, or felt ejected from my seat more than on this ride. I think I might have been deathly close to getting whiplash. Even at the spring of a solid airtime hill (the first drop), you can feel the trims. WHY!!?!!?!?!?!? The view is just.. wood, wood, wood. In all fair honesty, you get a better view and overall ride experience on Gemini, which is shorter, probably slower, etc. Avoid this one at all costs, please do not be fooled by this. And Cedar Point, if you are reading this, tear this coaster down and put a flying coaster like one of these posters wrote. Although, build a flying coaster BETTER than Tatsu at Six Flags Magic Mountain.

Some like the good old woodies, but my bra cannot handle a roller coaster this rickety. It was painful and drawn out, the lines could have been shorter, and overall, it was a not good ride, except for the woodie-quality of feeling like it will collapse beneath you at any moment.

Mean Streak was not Nearly as bad some people have exagerated, but I&#39.m sure it could be a lot better, the coaste has alot going for it in the sense that it has the potential to create huge drops, high speeds and some decent airtime, all of those thrills are lost somewhere in that pile of wood. The coaster itself IS still fun though, the first drop is fun but messed up by the first trim, even with the trim the coaste gets pretty shaky at the bottom, but nothing I would classify as rough, you head into a highly banked turn and then into snaking twisting turns and hills that are actaully really fun, though shaky and not very intense they meander the course giving a fun decently thrilling coaster its a very good layout and IF it is fixed up so they can take the trims off it is capable of being a really great coaster as it stands now its good, the turns are fun and thrilling the drops are shaky and fast and rattle you thrilling you even more and there are even a few hints of airtime. So all in all this coaster is fun and thrilling sure its not amazingly intense but that doesn&#39.t mean it should sit and get ridiculed it&#39.s still defintely worth a ride or two on your vistit to Cedar Point and hopefully one day they can take the trims off and let this coaster live a little more.

This has to be the most dissapointing coaster I have ever ridden! Why on earth would you put trims before the airtime on the first drop. The ride is really pointless. You just kinda coast around back to the station. Its pretty funny when the ride Op has to ask how our ride was 3 times before a full train of rides gives some sort of response. In my opinion Cedar Point should tear it out and build a flying coaster.

One cannot help but be rendered speechless when you first see the massive wooden structure that is Mean Streak. It is a marvel to look at, with its wooden superstructure sprawling all along the back reaches of the peninsula in Cedar Points Frontier Town. I couldnt believe my eyes the first time I saw it, and as I watched the trains navigate the course from the ground, all I could think was "is this thing REALLY that bad?!?" Well, in a word, no, I dont think Mean Streak is nearly as bad as some people make it out to be. However, that being said, I have to be honest that although I have had some decent fun on my rides on it, it still disappoints when you think about the ride it "could" be.

For all intents and purposes, Cedar Point (or Cedar Fair, whoever the culprit was) decided to neuter this coaster, and in about the worst way I have ever seen. I understand that maybe a wooden coaster this big may have been aggressive back in the day, but you know what? I wouldve liked to have had a ride on this bad boy in its early years. The placement of trims is a common remedy for coasters that push a little too hard, but their placement on Mean Streak makes no sense at all. But Ill get to that in a minute. Entering the line, I love how you wind right through the coasters structure. Looking up at that mass of wood while in line is really neat. The crew works well on this one, and they have at least 2 trains (often 3) running, so waits are minimal. After boarding the PTC train, you head off towards the massive lift hill.

At the top, you have a stellar view of the lake and begin the descent down the first drop, from 161 feet up! Great fun, right? Well, sadly, not really, thanks to the baffling trim brake on the first drop. I just dont get it. Let this coaster live, dang it! What results is one of the weirdest first drops I have experienced. It is almost choppy, as the brakes pulse over the train several times. When they finally release, you do drop, but it seems almost anticlimactic as you just dont feel like youve experienced a big drop at all. The rest of the ride is spent trying to recover the speed that was lost due to that trim. After a while, the speed starts to get pretty good, but then you hit another set of trims, and that pretty much kills the speed again. I dont mind the mid-course ones, but those first drop ones are pointless, plain and simple. Maybe cutting it loose leads to roughness, but at least then it would live up to its name!

The layout itself is not bad at all, in my opinion. It is basically a super-sized twister design, with many turns through and around itself, and some decent drops thrown in. The pacing, thanks to the lackluster speed, is a bit off. One thing I will say is that I have not experienced the "bone-rattling" roughness that some speak of when discussing this coaster. Shoot, it doesnt go fast enough fot that! Sitting up front it is very smooth, and in the back it shimmies somewhat but nothing that I would classify as rough. There are actually a couple spots where there is a slight hint of airtime, but its not as pronounced as it could be since the (yep, you guessed it) speed is lagging behind. Notice a theme here? A pretty good layout, with some fairly good drops, just doesnt deliver a bang for the buck without the speed that a coaster this big should deliver. I truly doubt that the coaster ever reaches its claimed top speed of 65 mph. Theres just no way.

So, youre probably all thinking, thats a lot of negative sounding talk for a ride that gets a 6! Maybe, but Im just pointing out that its not that this coaster is BAD, its just that it fails to live up to what it could be. Truth is, I still have a fair amount of fun on the ride, and it has some moments that are enjoyable. The drops are decent, except for the puzzlement that is the first drop. Upon seeing this wooden beauty in the tranquilly calm area that is Frontier town, one has to be at least somewhat amazed by its massive structure. Unfortunately for me, I also came equipped with the knowledge that Mean streak would be a great disappointment. I was, of course, correct. Mean Streak combines both being tamed beyond belief by Cedar Fair, and causing painful discomfort while being ridden. Thus, a coaster with such great potential musters only an average rating of a 5.

Mean Streak is one of those huge wooden coasters that look cool but offer boring/painful rides. Theres breaks all over it and it crawls around the course. Even without the breaks it wouldnt get much air time, the ride design dosent allow for any.

Mean Streak looked great with its massive and dense wooden strucutre, but ultimately was a big disappointment. The first drop was trimmed halfway down, but still provided a little air time in the back. The rest of the ride had some big drops, but they had no air time at all and the ride was pretty rough. Also, the finale was very slow, but there were a few minor pops of air.

My first ride on the Mean Streak hurt. The roughness was actually pretty excessive and unpleasant. The pain in my back actually kept me from enjoying the coaster. I recently re-rode it in the front seat while leaning a little forward in my seat. It did wonders! I could then actually judge the Mean Streak for its merits beyond the ricketiness. Admittedly, theres not a whole lot of airtime on this one. Maybe some of thats because of the trim brake? You do get some air towards the end of the ride, however. What this ride brings to the table is fun turns and drops (without much air at first, of course) and a real cool look. I might be tempted to give the Mean Streak a 5 out of 10 (which is actually in the middle between bad and good), but its so visually impressive, I had to add points. To begin with, it has the coolest line queue ever! The queue winds throughout the beautiful wooden structure, making the wait fun in itself. Seeing all the cracked boards up close even caused a bit of fear and uncertainty in my girlfriend, whom I rode it with. In addition to an amazing line, the ride gives you a long triple out-and-back ride through the woden structure. There are some head-choppers in there as well. Once I got past the roughness, I really appreciated the speedy winding through all the timbers. Probably the worst part of the ride IS the trim-braked first drop. A lot of size and potential was wasted by that brake. After that though, the rest of the ride isnt boring at all. The Mean Streak probably isnt as good as most other woodies, sure, but its not actively bad.

Honestly, a 5.7? Highly underrated in my opinion. Yes, this ride could have been faster, and it shook the cheese and crackers out of me. (so much that my safetly belt came undone on its own during the ride, and 2 days afterwords, my right arm hurt!) However, riding this one was just really neat. The park I normally go to (Kennywood) has an assortment of woodies, though they are all masterpiece old-school ones. Needless to say, Im a tad bored of them, and this one was definitely something memorable. Also, the winding through the massive wooden structure was visually stunning. I highly reccommend this one, just a word of advice: hang on!
