A beautiful carousel, built in a beautiful park. This is a catch the brass ring carousel, and it is very different from the one at Knoebels. First of all, it goes around very quickly. Ive never ridden a carousel that moved so quickly before! Secondly, once you catch the ring you have to immediately toss it into the clowns mouth which is 10 to 15 feet away from the ring dispenser! If you hit the clowns mouth his eyes light up and a horn sounds! I was never able to get the ring into the clowns mouth. This carousel is a real treasure.

Let me begin by saying that I almost never ride carousels or merry-go-rounds. Its not that I dont appreciate them, as I know they are historic and nostalgic, but I appreciate their nostalgia from the sidelines. In all honesty, its because I just dont find merry-go-rounds all that fun. Now, having said that, let me say that this ride was an absolute blast, one of my groups favorites at the boardwalk. We went on because these reviews recommend it so highly, and we sat on the outside horses. Just grabbing the rings from the slot was fun and challenging enough, but then trying to throw them into the clowns mouth made this a real hoot. You only had a split second to grab and throw, so you couldnt take great aim. You could, of course, hold on to the ring for one circle and then throw it the next time around, but I wanted as many chances as I could get! Whatever you do, sit on the outside horses. You dont get to participate in this fun from the inside, and the ring-throwing is what made this carousel such a great time. Whereas normally I dont want to get on a merry-go-round, in this case I didnt want to get off!

this is the all time greatest carousel hands down. The ring grabber is great. What makes this ride so special is the fact that its nearly 100 years old and still runing strong. DO NOT TAKE THE RINGS!!!!!!!! or else a classic element will be taken out
my raiting
outside horses 7
inside horses 4

This is worth riding simply for the history. Be sure to sit on the outside so you can grab the rings and throw them into the clowns mouth.

This is a carousal, no different then any other except the game with the ring toss. A classic ride.

There is no better carousel on this earth than the ole 1911 Looff. The son of the guy who built this carousel built the Giant Dipper.

I hate carousels but this at least gave me something to do. That fact that you can reach out and grab a ring and hurtle it at an ugly clown more than makes up for a lame ride. And yes I didnt aim for the open mouth. (too easy) I aimed for his eyes and nose. And hit him plenty of times. I hate clowns.

Best carousel ever. I enjoyed every minute of attempting to throw the ring in to the clowns mouth and would love to do it a few more times.
