The Flyer is a flat ride. It is average speed, fun, rerideable, it has a large capacity, and a long duration.

The Flyer has been a staple of my Knoebels experience since I was tall enough to ride them. My Dad was a private pilot and we would often go flying around in his little blue & white Cessna so when I was younger and rode the Flyer with him he would put that aviation experience to good use and really get the snap going something fierce. Nowadays your ride experience can depend greatly on who is operating the ride. I love it when a true master steps up and rides because it really gives everyone waiting in the queue a look at what this ride is capable of. The best part about the Flyers at Knoebels is that snapping is not outwardly encouraged, but it's not discouraged either. Usually when I see people getting reprimanded it's because of the way they're handling the rudder, not because they're snapping the cables. I should mention during their Halloween event Knobels has a nice tongue-in-cheek decoration for the Flyer enthusiasts: One of the cars with a length of snapped cable banged up and jammed between two trees with a skeleton hanging out of it. Good stuff!

An excellent example of flyers...very good movement; snapping, etc is quite doable on this ride. The proximity to trees also adds to the thrill.

Everyone compares flyers to this one and I certainly can see why. I love how close the tubs come to trees during the ride and really increase the thrill factor. Knoebels ran a really long cycle on this as well and the ride was chaotic. No other park runs their flyers as fast as Knoebels ones and I got tons of snapping on my ride.

A terrific flyer that is fast and can be operated with skill. It is unusual to find a ride (other than a shooting dark ride) where the rider can effect the ride performance.

Im going to give this ride an 8. I personally dont like this ride, i dont know why im just not a fan of it. But it looks nice, is themed nice and the lines are never really long. From what i read about other versions, im very glad knoebels is so good about it. Its very well taken care of, and even though i dont ride it cause i dont like it, it definitely deserves an 8 just for being so well kept and nice looking. definitely a class A ride.

The flyers are a fun ride. They appear to be a little dull, but they offer a great ride if you catch the right breeze!

While there was no avoiding the high praise these flyers consistently get from the TPC crowd, nothing really prepared me for how jaw-droppingly incredible this ride really is. First off, the cycle is absurdly lengthy and there is plenty of time to get 2 or 3 epic snapping episodes rolling (unlike Kings Dominions set where youd be lucky to get a single solid rhythm going). Simply put, this ride is addictive. The level of control riders have on this ride is stunning --- I suppose it has to do with the seemingly lighter weight of the buckets themselves. Whatever the reason was, my friend Shari and I had the entire structure rumbling relentlessly on both of our spins on this majestic flat ride. On my second ride, the bucking and snapping was particularly ruthless, and a little girl on the opposite side of the structure started crying. After she realized that nothing was wrong with the ride and that we were just having one helluva time, she resorted to uncontrollable laughter, so it ended well I guess. What was even more freakishly awesome was that while the rest of the skooters were slowing down and coming to a smooth rest, I still had some solid bucking going on --- the ride operator even complimented me on the killer cycle.

Bottom line: this ride is grossly fun and cannot be missed. All of those claims that a good set of flyers is better than the vast majority of roller coasters is undeniable after riding this ride. Superb flat and easily the second best ride at the park

Not a huge fan of these... they were alright. I agree with a couple of reviews on here that the man working the attraction was a real grump. I thought they appeared a little worn which is understandable since every time I went by there was a line. I am not however the biggest fan of flyers in general, but I gave it a fair rating based on the fact that they were better then others I have been on and the fact that I am not a huge fan. If the grumpy guys gets fired I may enjoy them a little more next time.
