Space Mountain blew my socks off. I was stunned at how awesome the ride ended up being - the tunnel effect was pretty cool, and the ride really moved at a good pace, producing some thrilling drops and turns. This may be my second favorite enclosed coaster, aside from only the Mummy at Universal. Such a fantastic ride, and I like enjoying it from the people mover too

the florida one is unchanged right? its the california one that was replaced with a modern coaster? i loved the crazy wildmousey type one in FL when i was young. spring 1987 was last time i was there actually, yikes.

Space Mountain rules. For those that dont know, WDWs version is not renovated, however it is all but officially confirmed for a $30 Million renovation, similar to Disneylands!! Nobody truly knows what is going to be renovated, or what upgrades we are getting. Brand new track? New, single-track layout? New trains? Side-by-side seating in the trains? In-car audio? Most people agree that they will be upgrading the special effects, darkening the room that houses the track, and modernizing the queue. This will be a long overdue update to a ride that truly deserves it.

I also have not ridden in a long time (1985, yikes). What do the visual effects look like when you stare at the ceiling. Do the "asteroids" still look like chocolate chip cookies as it did in 1985? The Disneyland visual effects in 2006 are superior to what I experienced 20 years ago at WDW.

larrygator-They changed the look of the asteroids when I went during Spring Break. That was one of the first things I noticed.

Larry - first off, you last rode before I was born. Ha ha. Secondly, I dont know if I would call them chocolate chips, though honestly I wasnt paying that close attention to the ceiling (instead, I had the pleasure of staring at the back of Richs head)

I was on a plane with the guy who is going to be doing part of the WDW Space Mountain renovation. It is supposed to be down for up to a year. He is an LED specialist.
