Review of Gold Rusher, The @ Kennywood
0 Rating Posted by: tauren_man on 7/6/2006 7:24:00 PM
Sorry, I had to write a new review for this. I went recently, and my love for this ride was renewed to a new level. I hate to give it a 10 because I feel that it is too low. Corny? Yes. Poorly designed? Not in the least bit. People overlook the excellence of the effects due to its age, and the fact that some of the figures are not always well maintained. The ride is not scary, perse, but loud and maybe a bit startling on the first ride. However, after countless rides, the charm and hilarity level always remain the same: extremely high. If you like darkrides, and have an open mind, then this ride is the most fun you will ever have on a darkride. I just dont understand how anyone on this site could give it less than a 7.

Aw, man! Taken out! Man alive, what was Kennywood thinking? Now they have no dark rides left lol. I hope people will join me in saying good bye to this work of art, and hope that in the near future, Kennywood will throw me a bone and get me a suitible replacement.

Crap! I just looked, and Ghostwood Estate is being made by the same people who made Garfields Nightmare! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! Oh well, I cant judge it until Ive ridden it... even though it probably will suck, at least it wont have Garfield xD

I wouldnt be so quick to dismiss Ghostwood Estate, as it sounds like a pretty ambitious project by the park. The Rusher served its purpose but had become dated and was always a capacity nightmare, so it was time to be replaced. And look at it this way, they took out a dark ride and replaced it with another. How many parks do you know that do that?? Im curious where you heard that it was by the same folks that did GN. I was under the impression that Ghostwood was being done by a totally different company, one that also does some work for the parks Phantom Fright Nights.

Yes, PhantomNik, it is the same people. But after looking into it, GE looks much better. Like, you know, they actually tried. Supposedly there arent any fluorescent lights or cardboard cut-outs, kind of like... you know, a dark ride. LOL. But Im looking forward to trying it out. It will be reviewed... Wednesday.
