Review of Mission: Space (Orange) @ EPCOT
-1 Rating Posted by: HowieP on 3/17/2006 2:04:00 PM
Of all the rides at Walt Disney World, this one was bad! Not the idea, but the ride itself. Luckily, it was the last ride we (my family) went on at the end of the day, but we made the mistake of going twice. Afterwards, I had a splitting headache and bodyache for days. If they gave me a choice of hitting my head with a hammer or riding this torture chamber again, Id take the hammer!

If it was a torture chamber...why did you ride it twice?

Actually you would choose to ride it again since that is what you did. Sorry your body couldnt take it but I have no idea how this ride could cause body pain. Headaches I totally understand though.

13 times they warn you and then one more time before you get on the ride. Then you see BARF BAGS that are not props. And you go TWICE. Then you blame it on the RIDE sorry Howie that is a human problem if you ask me.

Ageerd. The only blame for stupidity is yourself.

How do you get body pain from this ride? YOUR BODY HARDLY EVER MOVES!
praxis on 4/22/2006 8:54:05 AM said:
Allow science geek to answer that, nyeboy! :dork: Actually, you are moving, and pretty fast. It may not look that way, because everything in the chamber is moving with the exact same velocity, so, relative to you, it seems to be standing still. The chamber youre in is spinning around in a circle - this produced the centripetal force that makes you feel like youre being pressed backwards. Its effectively identical to increasing gravity. 1 Seems ridiculously low for this ride, but there is plenty of movement, and it does produce plenty of force on your body.

Well, yeah... we know what it does. But while your body may feel strong forces pressing you into the seat, it doesnt actually move your body around like a coaster would... so I dont see how you could get body aches from this. A headache, yes.

Your entire body feels as though its been subjected to a lot of extra gravity - that could lead to aches everywhere, not just the head. (Unless one could cause gravity to only affect the head, which... no, wait. That might be a bad idea.)

Thank you Raptor for explaining what I meant.

All I can say Howie is grab a tack hammer and enjoy the ride.

Ill admit it was stupid to ride twice, but I didnt know it would hurt as bad, warning signs and all. Plus I never got nauseous at all, so THAT wasnt the problem, folks!

I went on this ride twice when I went two years ago. I would definately not recommend it,however, I wouldnt punish the ride review because of my stupidity.

BTW, people, the first time wasnt too bad. It was the second time where I felt it! THATS the story behind my riding it twice. Tell you what. Im going back to Florida in June and IF we go back to EPCOT, Ill ride the green version of M.S. Keep ya posted.

Well I finally rode the Green less-intense version back in 2011 finally. See my review for that one. Much more positive than this one.
