Review of Cornball Express, The @ Indiana Beach

When this coaster was being constructed, it was being billed as a "family coaster". Well, I have to say that this mean, wicked little beast is in my top ten coasters of all time due to its fun and exicting twisting track. I love this ride!

This sounds like a fun coaster. I just wonder why it would have this name. Doesnt the word "cornball" usually have negative connotations? Do you happen to know how or why this coaster received its name?

I was watching the 80th anniversary DVD the other night and it said the Cornball Express was named after their 1st mascot.

Actually, Cornball Jones was the parks 3rd mascot and added just for the ride (might want to re-watch the DVD). The rides name came as a result of the park (and coaster) existing in the middle of a cornfield. It was also to match the mascot, which was designed to help promote the ride as a "family coaster" which it was originally intended to be (granted, it may be best for the Addams Family).

I agree completely that billing this as a family coaster is insane, still I think any small child that just meets the height requirement will enjoy it as much as anyone who barely squeezes into the car. Innocent fun of the type this ride provides is universal.

I wouldnt call this coaster a family coaster, Id call a family coaster that doesnt provide an insane ride. The best wooden family coaster I have ridden, was the Sky Princess at Dutch Wonderland.

The air on this is pretty intense so a little kid would definately get quite a thrill on this "family" coaster.

Id call it a semi-adult coaster, because adults and children can enjoy it together.
