This carousel is such a great piece of Coney Island history - the last original, wooden example, complete with Gebreuder band organ and brass rings, left in the area. Its run gloriously fast, is festooned with original scenic paintings, wonderful Carmel horses, a great Illions armored jumper, and please check out the old rides stored alongside the carousel - old kiddie cars and such. Do NOT miss this wonderful carousel - a true gem. Outside of Astroland and Denos, its located on Surf Avenue, across and a little west from the Cyclone - in one of the storefronts. Plus - if you are ever in the area and able to ride this carousel, also, if you can, visit the INCREDIBLE Illions carousel in Flushing Meadows Park (in Queens - where the old Worlds Fair site is) - although its in very rough shape, this one is run at an amazing speed, and the floor is slotted, so that the horses sway out during the ride. Its a most delirious experience, and the carousel has great historic significance - it was combined from the Feltman and Stubbman carousels of Coney Island in 1964, for the Fair. Despite its lack of an operating band organ, its still a wonderful machine, and well worth the pilgrimage.
**NEWS UPDATE**
The B&B is currently in restoration, and plans are in the works to relocate the carousel near the Parachute Jump. Will let you all know more as the story develops!
