SFMM In Another Bias Suit
Submitted By: ThmPrkCrtc on 8/6/2001 5:10:00 PM
Seems like this park get sued for something like this at least once a month or so. The latest in a string of suits against SFMM has them pitted against a 16 year old who apparently ran into a ride worker in a bad mood.

Noah Jackson, 12, raced ahead of his cousin to get a better place in line for Six Flags Magic Mountains Sierra Falls water attraction last summer. He wanted to ride solo, like everyone else.

But according to a lawsuit, when it was Noahs turn, the park attendant tapped Noahs cousin, who was farther back, and made the youngsters squeeze onto a raft made for one.

"They did not even give us a choice," said the cousin, Devonne Brown, now 16, of Palmdale. "They told us to get on the raft [together] or go away." Devonne contends that he and Noah were treated differently "because of our skin color." They are black.

Please... More sue-happy Americans wanting freebes. The ride-op didn't tell them to ride together because they were black, but because it increases capacity. If I was told to ride together rather than separate, I would, who cares? You don't have a choice. Ride-ops are supreme rulers of thier ride (until an executive comes along) and if you don't do what they say, "go away." That simple, the ride-ops know what they are doing, and arn't trying to get certain people.

It would be unfortunate if this were true. Being from the South, I know that black people are more likely to be harassed by security and law enforcement personel. It's a fact. I don't think just because the security guards work for an amusement park it would make anything different.
