I've recently been to SFNE, and I have never even been on a hypercoaster. I was waiting on line for S:RoS, and looking at that enormous drop freaked me out. I made up some story and convinced my friends we had to get off the line, and we just went on BTDK and Mind Eraser a couple of times (which stunk). I'm so afraid of huge drops, even though I LOVE roller coasters but I'm just scared to know what it feels like to be going on one of those! Could someone please describe to me what its like to go on a Hypercoaster? Thanks!

You've been on Hypersonic XLC, according to your ride tracker, im sure you can handle the first drop on S:ROS

Hmm very true... But I'll have to think about that since Hypersonic XLC is a VERY different ride...

S:ROS is only 200 feet high, it won't feel any different then a drop 150 feet high.

Its 200 feet off the ground, that is, but the drop is really 221 feet since it goes through an underground tunnel. Anyway, you're right, I guess it would feel the same. Next time I go to Great Adventure I'll muster up my courage to go on Nitro.

Close your eyes and pretend it's a smaller drop.

being scared of something is what makes it fun. i was actually very intimidated by MF last year when i rode it but i kind of just sucked it up because of how great of a ride everyone said it was. so i went on it, little freaked out the first time, but then i ended up loving it. fear of something makes the experience more fun at the end, so long as youre not still afraid of it. i would just go on it, dont even think about what youre doing. SRoS is the best ride in the world so dont miss it

I Experienced the same thing, I used to be terrified of rollercoasters (yet always very fascinated with them) I kept looking at forumes such as these, reading the reviews, and next time I went to Knoebels, I decided I had to go on Phoenix to see what everyone raved about, and it was great! Now I understand better and a greater love (and obsession/fascination ) of coasters to boot! Hypercoasters can be intimidating, but thats part of the fun of it also (as bb dg thoroughly explained ) I have yet to go on a S:RoS, but they sure do sound fun!

I don't really like heights that much. But I've now been on Raging Bull 6 times in 3 visits! If you brace yourself the first time down the drop (like I did ) it's not that bad. Now I put my hands up.

goliath was intimidating, but i threw my hands up. besides, theres not much to hold on to. but when we hit the tunel, the hands went back in the car.

Nitro scared the crap out of me, and riding it for the first time was awesome because of the fear. Just make yourself go on it. You're not going to die, so why waste a day at the park by not going on the best ride?

Wow I feel the same way as primogen and B&M!!! I was thinking that when I went to Kings Dominion, just go on the freaking rides, you're not going to die- and I totally fell in love with them!!! Although I was a little intimidated before riding hypersonic, I wanted to ride more than anything even though i was scared out of my mind, but I knew i would regret it later if i didnt ride it. After some of my friends got off of superman, i TOTALLY regretted it, even though i was STILL scared. I'm vowing to myself now to never miss out on riding a coaster again. and primogen- like you i have always held a passion for roller coasters- their history, their speed, their power- even when i was completely terrified of them! now not only do i have a passion... im OBSESSED!!!

It's allot like any other coaster drop it just takes a bit longer to get to the ground. Stick to the middle back and you won't see the drop till your into it and by the time you realize your dropping your nearly to the bottom.

Yogurt, I envy your trepidation. After you get a few hypers under your belt, you'll see that they are very manageable, while still being very fun. However, that first ride when you conquer your fears is a priceless experience; by the bottom of the hill you'll feel like a new person. Like BobFunland, I suggest riding with your hands up. Let the ride do the work; your job is to have fun.

Wow, great advice guys...it'd be even better if the question wasn't already answered 2 1/2 years ago.

Since coasters have come out there have been people nervous about riding them. this will be true for the rest of time. so this was answered a hundred years ago and will be answered again in a hundred years.

I know that this question was already answered and I know that Yogurt has been gone for a while, but just to throw in my 2 cents...

I used to be very (and I mean very) reluctant to go on any new coaster. (You should have seen me standing in front of Twister determining to go on it or not.) Well, my new philosophy is that you may never be able to go the park again (or the coaster), so just suck it up and get on it anyway. I changed my mind about being so reluctant after the closing of Williams Grove (which may not be valid anymore ), and when I got into coasters only ONE year after Knoebels sold the Whirlwind.

Wow, great philosophy mrc...because other people may have similar issues at some point in the future, I'll just go ahead and post in a thread that has been dead for 2 1/2+ years just for the hell of it. I would have expected more from a TPC regular, even from you.

D'oh! I should have read more carefully. I'm going with mrceagle. This is a timeless question that deserves to be periodically revisited.

It deserves to be periodically revisited when a new person has this issue and they want to share it. It is pointless to be brought up by someone making an off-topic, virtually worthless comment just for one more addition to the number beneath their name. We have enough problems with coasterwom on this issue without any help from her partner in crime, CCTrack.

I didn't see the date on the first post. now was I on the site much at this time. So I didn't remember the post. If t was familiar to me I would have debated on posting to it.

Though what I said last post still stands true.
