Phoenix
While a fairly old coaster, the Phoenix is simply an air-time machine. Each and every hill provides incredible ejector air and the ride is very smooth despite its age.
Number two for me is Hershey's Wildcat (PTC Trains) because of its sheer intensity.

Pheonix is definetly the best..
Other great ones include the beast and boulder dash. Boulder dash is AMAZING

I live in Ohio so my favorite wooden coasters are The Beast, Son of Beast, Raging Wolf Bobs, Villian, Big Dipper, Blue Streak, Gemini, and Mean Streak.

My Favorite wooden coaster is Cyclone In Brooklyn NY.
It's worth riding. So if byiu have not rode Cyclone you have to ride it

El Toro is tops, Thunderhead is a close second though (and Troy is pretty similar to Thunderhead). Honorable mentions to Boulder Dash, Cornball, and Phoenix. I haven't been on many of the newest woodies though.

yeah, I like small, chill-out parks in Germany where I can spend more time drinking and eating than riding. I still like to relax, I'll always be lazy! I just have very little interest in big cement playgrounds

^Well of course. I have very little interest in most big cement playgrounds. I will always prefer Waldameer to a day at the point. I have always said if CF owned all the parks I would get a new hobby. Glad at least that you had an enjoyable trip and its too bad everything in america is under the belief that bigger is best.

I used to put the Coney Island Cyclone on the top of my list year after year, but with the passage of time I have to hand that title to the Phoenix. Granted, the Cyclone has an unmatched first drop, but the Phoenix is pure poetry - from lift hill to final run to the station. Amazing coaster...

My favorite woody so far (based on what I've been on) is El Toro & I think it's arguably one of the best ones out. This monster's an airtime junkie's dream ride with relentless speed, surprisingly smooth transitions & re-rideability, & uses its terrain to its advantage to get the most out of this ride. Aside from it possibly could've had more length to its journey, there's not much else to knock on El Toro as this bull of a ride will take all of us off our high horse.

Boulderdash is my top coaster fallowed by Cyclone(Coney Island) and and Comet at TGE.
I have to give an honorable mention to Yankee cannonball still smooth and fast after 80 years

My top wooden coaster was Phoenix, but after finally making it down to Six Flags Great Adventure while touring colleges this past summer, El Toro has claimed my top spot.
From start to finish the ride is just pure bliss. The first drop is the most intense drop I have ever experienced, and there are 4 monumental moments of ejector air. Plus, the ride also has some incredibly fast twists at the end and some smaller hills with floater air at the top.

I still love the Phoenix. It was my first wooden, and I've been on tons of others, but I still always come back to it. I've yet to ride El Toro, though.

^ Canobie's Yankee Cannonball was my first wooden coaster. El Toro may have knocked it out of my top 5, but it is still one of my favorites.

Nice to see a little activity on here (even if I'm over a month behind). My one ride on the CI Cyclone is the single greatest coaster ride I've ever had so far. My other top woodies, in order (although they're all extremely close) are Voyage, Boulder Dash, Ravine Flyer II, and El Toro.

I finally rode the legendary Cyclone last summer and I feel the exact same way. I rode it in the very back and night and couldn't believe how intense the coaster was. That first drop completely blew me away.

El Toro by far with its scaling height, steep drop, blistering speed, insane amount of airtime, & the right amount of track length. That first experience with my dad in 2008 still holds near & dear to me. I can't wait to ride it again in June
