This just in from ACE: the 2009 ticket price for the Coney Island Cyclone is $9! That's 18 beans a cycle for us married folk. True, you can haggle with the ride ops over the reride price, but sheesh.
In absolute terms, a ride on the world's greatest roller coaster is certainly worth $9, but the days of the 5- or 10-ride string are history for the enthusiast of limited means. Bummer.

Wow! That's terrible!
Maybe the price will get lowered if the Cyclone suffers a much lower ridership than usual, but $9 is just insane. That rivals some of the Vegas coasters in price.

I think ACE is wrong, I just rode it on Sunday for $8. That's still a pretty steep price, but I guess it's better than $10 dollars to take a ride across the Verrazano. lol
But I'd certainly pay 8 bucks to ride the Cyclone over The Roller Coaster (was Manhattan Express) in Vegas which commanded $15 bucks to ride when I went! That much for a Togo is robbery I tell ya!
I haven't been around here in a few months btw!

On the Cyclone website, the price is listed as $8 w/ $5 re-rides.
In an unrelated question, does anyone know the fate of Break Dance? I have searched and I can't find any news if anyone bought it or not.

^ All of the Astroland rides are in storage somewhere in Staten Island according to people in the know at the Coney Island Board. I don't think anything has been sold.

Pricing the coaster that high is very likely to hurt it in teh long run. I haven't heard what rides will be in the Temporary Dreamland park. but right now I have no plans to go into NY and or to ride Cyclone. at that price I wouldn't go out to Coney Island if I was in the area.
