Well it's been a very long time since I've had any time to work on this site. I know you guys have been having issues with posting all over the site.

The site has been hit many times with an attack that puts malicious JavaScript directly into the database. This hit a great deal of old sites using traditional ASP, and even though I tried to plug the holes, it still managed to break the site four times in total.

During that time, I had to try and remove that script, and during the process had to change some database settings that resulted in the chopped reviews and posts you see through out the site. I have some backups that after I'm done recoding the site I'll try and resync what I can.. I'm really not sure how much it will fix, but it's a start.

Anyways, I'm here fixing stuff now in the form of a new site. The message board was the first place I started since most people chat around on it, and it's easiest to spot problems on.

You can login using your regular TPC account here:

REMOVED LINK IT ALIVEEEE

Keep in mind this site is in development, lots of stuff will be broken outside of the forums.

There are obviously some things I'm working on, for instance avatars are disabled right now, and the who's online indicator is currently always off... I think there's still some link parsing problems as well, but I'm posting using the beta site, so you should be able too.

I'm going to ask that you post bugs in the Beta forum if you want to help out.

I appreciate you guys being patient and sticking around... initially I want to get the site built, I'll be removing some content (Guest Book, Links Page for instance), but there's some new stuff I've got to replace it as soon as all the existing stuff is converted.

If you have any questions also please feel free to fire away.

Mark

I look forward to the new version. Will the ride listings be up to date or will that be more of a phase 2 sorta thing?

Eventually yea, first though I want to fix what's broke and move everything into a new code base.

One of the problems I always had was keeping code in sync with what was on the website, over the years I've become more versed in proper versioning of projects which helps immensely when trying to work on things, also makes it easy to roll back stuff that gets broken.

I want to try and fix the broken reviews and the broken things first though.

I would be very happy when the new site hits, especially if we can bring back some old members. I have to say when I saw you on I was afraid this site was closing at the new year. If you need any help let me know.

Thanks for the reply. I woudl be happy to help out with the rides when it comes time.

Coaster I would love to see some of the old posters back. I still talk to a couple on other sites. The new site should help with that.

I'm still tightening some screws, there's some features missing, but the other site was in shambles, so I wanted to get something more stable up and running.. HOPEFULLY this is it..

I'll create a bug thread soon, and I'm getting emails for failures in the background

I noticed that the Hot reviews show comments but there is no links to those comments. Is the link missing or will there be no option to add review comments?

also the loading is a bit jumpy. works at times but times out others. seems a bit better today though.

Hey mrceagle.

When you say it's jumpy can you give me a description of what it's doing?

Thanks, TPC, for persevering in the thankless task of shepherding our little flock of coaster heads through the Valley of the Shadow of the Internet. If Brittany Spears can claw her way back, so can we!

Merry Christmas, TPCers!

When loading or reloading after submitting content it's inconsistent the time to load is all over the place even after submitting simple content. Some pages simple don't load even though they just loaded a second ago.

I think there was still some SQL injection floating around in the database.

I did a bunch of cleaning today, hopefully I got what was left, that wouldn't definitely cause these types of issues.

Let me know if it continues, if it's a specific page that would also help.

I'm working on the admin parts still, so you won't be able to do much in the way of administration aside from the normal site stuff.. the admin forum should still be open for you though

I just noticed that the News Comments do not allow edits. Might be a nice ability. I would have used it today.

Boy, I had not logged on in a while, and when I did this morning I thought I was at the wrong site.

WOW, what a difference! Looking good, I will have to get more active again.

One minor issue I've found: in the reviews whenever I use a &, especially when I write B&M, in my reviews. After the, a "amp;" always follows.

Wow, I think I'll have to second what Cyclonic said. I checked in a couple of weeks ago to look at some rankings for a coaster draft pick, and came to this. I haven't actually posted here in forever and would probably cringe at some of the things I've posted (oh and I hate my username, haha) but I'll try to get more active. I've been pretty busy with school lately but I kind of fell out of the loop with coaster things earlier this year and I'm trying to get back on.
