So I was at Dollywood over Memorial Day and I noticed that they had put these small, web-cam like cameras in front of some of the cars on Tennessee Tornado. I asked the ride op what the purpose was, and he said that they were going to start selling DVDs of people's rides. THey hadn't set a price yet, but he said that they expected the cameras to be up and running sometime this summer. He did also say that the cameras were also a little insurance for Dollywood incase someone makes a claim that they got hurt on the ride. They can look at the tapes to see if that person was "doing somethin' stupid," as the ride op put it.

I had never heard of this, but does anyone know any other parks that offer this?

Yes, Morey's Piers does it on a few of their rides. Great Nor' Easter and Doo Wopper are two that have it. My sister and I actually bought one from the Great Nor' Easter because it was half price and we thought "what the heck, why not."

The video itself is sort of cut up with the shots going from stock footage of the ride, to you on the ride and back. As you go through the ride, the shot will cut to the train going through that part of the ride.

However, the stock footage didn't synch up at some parts. Like in one part we were going through the barrel rolls and the next shot went to stock footage of the train flying through the sidewinder loop.

It's kind of stupid, but they did get out $12 or so bucks so they made a little something.
