Last year's new premiere coasters Griffon, Renegade!, Mystery Mine, & Maverick had solid debuts. This year's coasters aren't going to be as creative or innovative as last year's, but what coaster are ya'll anticipating for? I'm looking forward to Hersheypark's Fahrenheit simply because of how insane it'll be going up a 90 degree lift hill at 121 feet, then dropping down 124 feet at 97 degrees. I'm still not favoring the ride capacity, but the ride itself should be exhilarating.

Well, with a wedding coming up in November, I doubt I will be experiencing any new 2008 coasters myself, but there are several that look rather good. Hershey's Fahrenheit does look amazing, no doubt, but it ranks second on the 2008 must-ride list. For me, that top honor would go to the little park called Waldameer near Erie, PA. They are finally set to open the Ravine Flyer II, a marvelous-looking wooden coaster from the genius designers at Gravity Group. See that, Kennywood, even smaller parks can cash in on a coaster hit for a modest price! Give Gravity Group a call, post haste!!

Also, I gotta say that GCI's coasters are looking fantastic every time, and the new Evel Knievel is no exception. I would also put Behemoth up there on the list, provided that those trims that can be seen in the animations are off.

I'd rather be coaster riding!

Ravine Flyer 2 is probably tops for me this year, but to be honest I don't even know what is new on my TPR trip to Europe.

Flying Turns - since I've been anticipating it for years. I expect Ravine Flyer II to be the best new woodie I ride this year.

For steel I hope to get to Canada's Wonderland for Behemoth.

^^Rich - The new GCI woodie at Tripsdrill (Mammut) might be the only major "new for 2008 coaster" on the Europe trip. But you still have Troy, Black Mamaba, Colossus, Silver Star, Winjas, launched Space Mountain, launched X-Car and more as "old" coasters.

It should be a fun coaster debut year for me. With relatively short drives from Toronto, I'll be able to get to Ravine Flyer II, MotoCoaster at Darien Lake, and Behemoth. Also, I'll probably make it to Flying Turns and Fahrenheit. Behemoth and Flying turns are the 2 I'm looking forward to the most.

I'm gonna have to say Behemoth. Ravine Flyer II and Farhrenheit would come close.

Behemoth for sure, though Ravine Flyer looks amazing as well, I don't know why, but Fahrenheit doesn't do it too much for me, but the drop and some of the inversions are very unique.

Though I doubt I'll be riding any of them next year, Behemoth looks the best along with that new Intamin mini-hyper in Japan. Ravine Flyer II, Fahrenheit, and Steel Hawg look great as well.

Man, you don't even deserve to be on that trip calling Mammut a GCI

Gotta give Gerstlauer a little love!

That ride does look awesome though. T-Express is by far the best looking coaster in mine eyes this year, with Mammut being second for woodens.

I'll probably get to ride BDK at SFNE, RFII, and possibly Behemoth and Dominator depednding on if I feel like putting up with Cedar Fair this year.

I know exactly how you feel man. I know my coaster research has gotten slower since I had no clue that Waldameer Park was building Ravine Flyer II & the company behind all of this is the one I want to work for, GCI. Anyway, Hersheypark's building Fahrenheit, the roller coaster with a 90 degree lift hill at 121', a 124' drop at 97 degrees (the steepest in the US) reaching a top speed of 58 m.p.h. throughout its 2700 feet of tubular steel track. There'll be 6 inversions (a Norwegian loop, cobra roll, & double corkscrew). Behemoth's a new B&M hyper at Canada's Wonderland. It'll stand 230 feet high, reach a top speed of 77 mph, has a 75 degree first drop, & will span over 5318 feet of track.

Hmm, I didn't know that GCI was working on both Mamut AND RFII.
I can't believe I'm so *not excited* about eastern PA's new coasters. Flying Turns, Voodoo (never been on an impulse), and Fahrenheit are all less than 4 hours away from me, and I really have no desire to go to Hershey, Dorney, or Knoebels this year. Perhaps it's because I went to all three last year, and I have other plans.

Fahrenheit seems right up my alley though. A unique Intamin with some inversions that others have critiqued as being awesome but I have never done. It doesn't hurt that there may be a few airtime hills as well. I mean, it look incredible, but for whatever reason, I'm just personally not too excited about it.

The Turns, without question. Ever since I was about 11, when I first got wound up in the whole historic amusement park obsession, I have been somewhat fascinated by the Flying Turns concept - seeing old photos of Riverview Park's Turns just made my heart race. And when I heard that Knoebels was resurrecting Bartlett's wacky coaster idea, I nearly flipped. I am very, very happy about this, and eager as all hell to ride one. Honestly, I never thought I'd see one built in my lifetime.

GCI Interviewer: So, what is your favorite work of ours?
RCGenious: By far Ravine Flyer II. You guys did a great job with that coaster.
GCI Interviewer: *blank stare*

With that said, my most anticipated is the Gravity Group designed Ravine Flyer II.

Yeah that Gravity Group coaster looks solid!

haha, but I'm also looking forward to Behemoth and Fahrenheit (even though it looks like it's going to be really slow with capacity)

...oh and Spongebob looks pretty solid even though it already opened.

Meh, the only reason Spongebob looks cool to me is because its indoors. The scrubby, but "at least its there" themeing is somewhat appealing as well.

Anyway, I just saw a couple "No Limits" sort of POVs of Mamut on Youtube, and it looks really good! Fast, lots of banking, but also a few good ol'fashion straight airtime hills. Wish I was on that Euro-trip, but 1 Euro=1.58 dollars is not in my price range.

SpongeBob definitely looks cooler than a lot of other coasters in my opinion just cause it's indoors. Also, I was furious after seeing a test video of Behemoth as the ride was filled with trims. I knew Cedar Fair had a history of this, but I wasn't expecting them to be that numerous.

^^Yea, I was kind of POed about that too. Not "furious" as you say, because it is to be expected. The only two B&M hypers I've ridden: Apollo's Chariot and Nitro both have trims, and why would we expect anything different from Cedar Fair?

^AC's trims are quite minimal, however, as are Nitro's

I'd have to say Ravine Flyer II is my most anticipated coaster for '08... it's the first Gravity Group woodie within reach for me, personally

I just rode Fahrenheit last night after work & it was awesome. The coaster's short in length & has that ridiculous ride capacity, but the experience of going up a 90 degree lift hill's incredible as it feels like you're lying on your back in bed. Also, once you're at the top of its apex, the 97 degree drop just pulls you right down & the ejector airtime's insane. I know I can make a coaster review of this, but since the site has the ride as being under construction, I couldn't. I'm not going into greater detail until the ride's open for reviews, so that's all I'm going to say about Fahrenheit.

I rode Voodoo this past Sunday. Even though impulses are a dime a dozen, it was my first, and it was a lot of fun. The holding break really makes the ride.
