So my last two trips have been in 99 degree and 103 degree heat, respectively. I still had a great days, but the coasters were a little harder to tame in my opinion. Both trips were to my local park, Kings Dominion, and I found some of their coasters beat me up more than usual, and also they were harder to reride. For example, last year I could ride Anaconda all day and night and be fine and sort of excited about the next ride (even though the ride is mediocre). In my two heated visits this year, I found it to be almost unbearable rough and not fun at all. Grizzly is the same way, it is harder to ride, especially without me getting a headache. I really enjoyed my launch on Flight of Fear during one of my visits. Not only was the queue air conditioned, but when you the air breezed by me during the launch, it felt so good.

So, does the heat get anyone else?

The heat doesn't bother me. Last year I visited Busch Gardens Europe during a heat wave when both days had temperatures of 103 and 105 degrees respectively. I would have gone on the coasters more, but I wanted to do as much as I could at Busch Gardens.

At Paramount King's Dominion last year it was about 100 degrees both days and I had no problem. Grizzly wasn't at all a problem like you for me.

In all, the heat doesn't really bother me at amusement parks because I stay hydrated.

Yeah, I went to Ireland in June a couple of years ago and they were in the midst of a heatwave the week I went...75 degrees.

Do you mean that the coasters are running faster, therefore rougher or that the heat makes you feel sick?

The heat in Florida is dry? Half of the state is a swamp and is surrounded by water on three sides. It is one of the most humid places on the planet.

I'll stick up for gazza on this issue.

I visited london 2 years ago during a huge heatwave. Although temps were only in the mid 80's, It was unbearable. The humidity was terrible, and easily rivaled Florida. I've honestly never been in such stifling heat (and yes I've visited orlando mid summer)

I'm sure that what I experienced was unusual, however, in this case gazza may be correct.

No he is not. I was also there in 2006 during their hottest summer in 20 years and it was nowhere close to any of my visits in the summer to Florida. Not to mention heat like that is so scarce compared to the fact that every summer is hot in florida I just don't see how you can come close to comparing them.

no. I know it's way hotter in Florida, but the heat feels really pleasant and dry. In Britain, when it's hot, I sweat and it feels unpleasant.

^but you said Florida is a dry heat which is completely erroneous.

Don't claim you only said the heat was pleasant when you said it was dry also.

Fact - Florida heat is not dry.
You might enjoy Florida heat better, but it is not because of a lack of humidity.

Gazza - do you have any understanding of why you have close to zero credibility on this site?

An opinion is Phoenix is the best coaster. You can't prove it.

Saying Florida is dry heat is wrong. saying that is your opinion does not change the fact that your statement makes no sense. They have a freaking swamp, it can't be dry or it would be a desert.

Dry heat is Las Vegas. Central Florida is terribly humid.

Am I the only person who thought this thread had something to do with the rutting habits of gravity-powered amusement rides?

It did, but we lost the thread on that discussion long ago.

the preceding sentence is true.

Not at all. Neutering robs perfectly healthy, young coasters of their vitality.

I don't think any coasters should have trim brakes. Partly because I'd love to see what the Great American Scream Machine would be like if that trim just after the first loop was taken away.

I agree that trims shouldn't be on any coaster as they suck the life out of a coaster. The best example of this that I have been on is Hersheypark's Comet. Those last few bunny hills should provide some good air-time, but that trim brake just ruins the finale.
