I'm going to vegas in early June and was thinking about going to Disneyland for one day. My question is do you guys think I can get most of Disneyland and Disney's California Adventure done in one day? Just want your thoughts so I know what ticket to buy. Thanks for any info you have.

Craig - I tried this in October of last year. Now I think June will probably be more crowded. I didn't get to Disney until after 3PM because I went to Knotts in the AM, I'll post a link to my TR. Keep in mind I was walking around at a fast clip all day not giving in the food stops at DL or DCA, but I did get on everything I wanted, except the closed rides in only 8 hours. Hopefully if you get there around opening and stay to close you can relax a bit more. I purposely skipped the parade to get more done, I know I had to make tradeoffs with limited time.

Thanks Larry. What a great trip review. You must of been moving through the parks. I do plan on getting there before it opens so we can get a whole day in. I also will be skipping the parades. Thanks for your help Larry.

Remember that even though the maps will say its a 4 hour drive, it could easily take six.

We did DCA in about 3 hours this past December, I assume it will be busier in Summer, but still...

I'm going on a Tuesday. We will leave at 5 in the moring. So I hope we get their in less than 4 hours. I just want to do the big rides at both parks. I will skip the rides that are the same to WDW as DL. So that should cut down on some time.

If you leave Vegas at 5am then that puts you in Orange County between 8 and 10 am which could be really, really bad.

In case you haven't done research, here are a couple notes on identical rides:
Tower of Terror is rather different than the one in FL.
Splash Mountain is rather different as well, it's pretty much the same idea (leave the station, go up a lift hill, pass over the drop, go up another lift hill, circle the mointain, go down a hill, and "how do you do", etc), but there are many different characters, and a short song sequence before the big drop not seen in FL.
Space Mountain=Totally different
Big Thunder= Not a very different experience than FL, but it is by no means identical.
Pirates= Completely different (and better)
Soarin'= Identical, except for the Quene

So yeah, by skipping the identical rides, you are still going on most of the major ones. The only ones I'd say you MUST MUST MUST go on are Pirates and Space Mountain.
Also, if Nemo Submarine Voyage is open, you'll want to do that first. An article I read said that with it's low capacity it can only handle like 18,000 people a day (a busy summer day at Disneyland can bring in over 60,000), so there will be all this advertiseing, billboards, and hype for the new ride that only 1/3 guests can get on that day. And there will be no fast pass.

I was going to suggest a 5AM departure.

I think you will be fine on time, the first 240 miles can easily be covered in 3 hours since everyone drives 80MPH on I-15 from Vegas to Los Angeles. Even if traffic is bad you should be able to cover the last 20 miles in less than an hour.

Abr Thanks for the info. I have look it to some of the rides that are the same and will be skipping them. I'm really looking forward to Haunted Mansion, it looks great.

I will just have to hope, that I don't hit any really bad traffic. I wish disneyland would post their hours for june that would really help me out.

^they did the same thing with the hours for me, not posting them. I called the park via a 1-800 # on the website and they gave me the expected hours for the days I was considering.

I am sure a CF park is much better then Disney, especially to Taylor and my sister.

B&M how hard would it have been to say nothing or just answer the question?

B&M you know nothing on this subject. You haven't been there. So how could you say anything. Also no way can it take three days. MK only takes one day and I think that is a bigger park.

B&M you know nothing on the subject since you have not been there. It is simple statements like this that annoy people.

Taylor - Try to get to disneyland at least 30 minutes before opening. Use fastpass - head to space, indiana jones, and splash mountain first.

I visited DCA on labor day last summer. The longest wait was 20 minutes for soarin. You should have no problem with crowds there.

Well I went last tuesday and got pretty much everything I wanted done. The drive was 4 and half hours there, hit some slow traffic. Went to both parks and down town Disney. Next time I go it will be for a couple of days.

Mapquest is sometimes off. I would be cautious on what they say. Also, I went to DL only, and I did everything I wanted and more. This means that if you walk fast, and the lines are down then you might pull of DCA too. You just need to arrive early and know what you want to do.
