I was talking with my friend a while back about Universal Orlando, and he said he was very suprised that they had the space to build another theme park there (and CityWalk) because he didn't think they had any space to expand. I first visited Universal Orlando in 1997 when construction for IOA was well underway. What I'm wondering, did Universal do what Disneyland did where they build a parking garage on a portion of the current parking lot (or adjacent land) and use that space for the new park, or is he mistaken? I remember us parking in a Garage back in 1997, and thinking back, I'm not sure if Universal would have bought all that land JUST to build a parking garage and leave other parts empty.

They built the parking garages and took the land that was taken up by the old parking lot and part of that went to CityWlak/IOA.
