This new woodie opening at SFGA this year looks really great. Definitely going to pay it a visit this summer. I LOVE Wooden coasters! Heres a link:

I didnt know anyone still used that word (rad) but yes it does look rad. I dont know if ill make it, but I think it was a good move for some good wood at that park.

I agree that El Toro definitely looks like it's going to be a top-notch wooden coaster. I would probably take Voyage over it, but it's my #2 coaster for 2006. I don't know when I'll get to ride it, but a visit to SFGAdv is near the top of my list for trips to take.

What's so great about this ride? Looks kinda unoriginal, although quite large.

It will not be finished by opening day, probably closer to Memorial Day. They have yet to announce the actual opening.

It is made by Intamin and enthusiasts are slaivating in hopes it will be similar to Intamin's wooden masterpiece, Balder.

Balder has been recognized as one of the best Woodies in the world.

random I heard poeple talking in class about El Toro. It mostly started with a couple people poking fun at an ad/buy one get one free on the back of a coke, but theyre saying how desperate SF must be since they already have so many coasters and so overpriced its never worth it. This is just thr general people, they know nothing about SF's debt problems and chain-wide problems just normal college students who dont think twice, but one brought up how hed rather drive to hersheypark or dorney any time rather then go back to SF and pay that much to park and all. He brought up how many rides were closed and long lines/bad customer service when he was at SF. I brought in knoebels and the entire class accept maybe a couple people started getting in talking about how great of a place it is. Basically nobody cared when they were talking about how "bad" SF is since it seemed like general knowlege, but when knoebels was brought up, everyone seemed to have something good to share about it. I dunno, will even something that looks this good to us be able to bring in anyone whose already had a bad experience and doesnt give second chances, like the ones im talking about in my class?

I think you touched on why people think it's going to be great - it's huge. One of the largest woodies out there, plus a really steep drop. It's also supposed to combine aspects of an out-and-back and a twister, so that could be interesting too.

^Intamin also uses a track style that will combine the best parts of a steel coaster and a woodie, which is why it will be able to navigate siuch steep drops and quick turns without becomming rough.

I really hope that I can go to Six Flags Great Adventure this summer since I'll have my driver's license way before that time anyway. El Toro really looks amazing & I think that Six Flags Great Adventure was actually very smart this time in terms of building a more modern wooden coaster because Rolling Thunder was their only one & it was built back in 1979. That record breaking 76 degree first drop's really insane & crazy. I really want to ride it so bad. El Toro actually makes me want to go to SFGAD a lot more than Kingda Ka.

I think El Toro looks like it will be a Top 10 for alot of wooden coaster fans. I hope I get to go out there sometime soon and ride the new rides. I haven't been to the park in about three years. This is one of my favorite parks. I wish it wasn't so far away and I could go more often.
