if S&S's count, Marineland's triple-tower "Sky Screamer" is 450 feet tall.

Yeah, but the tower itself isn;t 450 feet tall. It's like a 200 foot tower on a 200 foot hill. The tallest one in the world (as mrc mentioned) is at Dreamworld in Australia which is 377 feet tall.

Just for reference, regarding the Marineland Tower

http://uploads.coasterenthusiast.com/marineland-tower.jpg

(as seen from the pathetic drop tower at MFI )

Of coure, it is a bit closer than the other tower in the photo, which would throw off the perspective a little, but not enough to be a huge difference. Just for comparison anyways...

I thought Hur__? Condor was the tallest...

Oh, and I think the Superman tower is a 300 footer

edit: Oh yea, I forgot about the Dreamworld one:

The PKD and PKI are both intimidating and PKI's gives a great view of the park as it rotates on the way up.

I think Pitt Fall at Kennywood is about 240 ft. but that is just going from memory as the height is not on my park map.

Did you take my advice on which seat to sit in to view Marineland and take that picture or did you just luck out?

I did indeed.

My luck amazes me. Their drop tower might have been the worst one on earth, the only one to inflict genuine pain. So, of course since it wasn't busy that day, they gave us a double cycle. I had to go through that crap twice, once against will (sigh)

As I think I said in my TR or review... "ride in the seats facing Marineland so you can see what a real drop tower should look like"

Who knows. they used there Reverse Freefall Suport to work there ridein. Perhaps SFMM will do a similare modificatin. there is 415 tall so it woudl brake the record.

I consider the Dreamworld ride a coaster, and therefor would not count as the tallest drop tower.

The tallest drop tower is kinda disputed. PKI's tower is a few feet taller, but PKD's tower actually has a longer drop due to the way the mechanisim is built (without the rotating function).

You don't know about this ride, do you? The Drop tower is a 2nd generation Intamin drop machanism built onto the suport structior of the Reverse free fall. Teh reverse free fall s not what we are talking about.

Yeah Cyclonic, three sides of the tower are an Intamin drop ride while one side of the tower is the reverse freefall coaster.

Ahhh...I stand corrected. I never realized that thing was also a drop tower. That is actually pretty neat.

I would never step foot on that thing. I am terrified of heights and that tower ride would probably make me pass out or something.

Yeah, I know I wasn't in on this conversation, but I never knew that either. That is pretty cool, definitely unique.

Why are you still posting replies in this thread that don't answer the question? I'm not trying to get on your case, I'm just wondering, because we've pretty much wrapped this thread up, there's nothing more to say really, imo.

To make a legitimate comment though, Blue Fall is a really tall tower there. You can see how small the cars are compared to the tower itself. Swimace, you and I would love that one, as we're both...apprehensive of heights.

There is no way anyone would ever get me on that thing, I think I'd pass out before we got to the top.

Yes, but the Big Shot does not start at ground level. The tower itself is only around 100 feet or so, I believe.
