Well, I went with my younger brother and my two cousins. We got there at about noon, right about when the rides were opening (Yankee Cannonball was testing as we were going in). It was a very hot day in the early 90's but clear and nothing to complain about. I've been to the park countless times as it's only about an hour away, so I decided to make the trip this year. The park is very traditional and lacks any thrills to speak of, and it gets quite crowded, but it's still fun.

Upon entering we immediately headed to the Yankee Cannonball, the wooden out n' back which wraps around the parking lot. The queue was about half full and they were running only one train (which is annoying considering everything would be so much better if they put the braking system to use...), so it was about 15-20 minutes. The ride was pretty good as usual, of course nothing too thrilling and it's small in height but it provided a good amount of air especailly on the smaller hills.

Then we went right to the Starblaster, the deceptively thrilling tower that stands not too tall at all (only about 80 feet I believe). It was a 5-10 minute wait...but again, a very surprising tower that is pretty thrilling just for the air. Ohh, what a valuable addition to the park.

Next we wanted to do the Antique Cars but the line wrapped around the fence for a while so we just walked away.

Then the crazy story of the day went into play. We went to the Paratrooper ride which is very fun and relaxing with the breeze. I hopped in the 2 person cars with my cousin, who is tall and decently heavy, so after both of us entered the car it swayed back and forth a little bit, and I admit, we weren't doing anything to stop it but nothing to dramatically make it faster. Before we could really wait for the momentum to stop the ride op came over, opened the gate, and said, "Off the ride, there's a sign clearly posted outside saying no swinging." in the most a$$hole voice possible.

So we tried saying we didn't do it intentionally, but the guy ignored us and walked away. So we got off, and headed to Da Vinci's Dream, which is fun (and beautiful) as always.

Then we did a quick run on the Boston Tea Party, the best shoot the chute I've done. After we dried off a bit, we were determined to get a ride in on the Paratroopers again, so we headed back there. Before we were about to board, my cousin said we didn't mean to swing and we're sorry, and do everything to stop it, but the ride op, in his usual manner, said, "I kicked you off for the day. I saw you guys swinging and when I got to you, you stopped." So my cousin, in rage because we didn't do anything intentionally, exchanged some words with the ride op, and we stormed off.

Following that we had lunch at the Pizzeria nearby which is good and air conditioned! That's always good on a hot day.

Next we hit the other end of the park, making a stop on the way at the Corkscrew, which was a walk on. It's your standard Arrow Corkscrew, just a little sharper looking. But an Arrow Corkscrew is an Arrow Corkscrew. Bah. Come on. I rode it in the front row, middle, and back. I have to say I liked the front the best; the whiplash in the back was brutal.

We saw that the Galaxi was now completely demolished, but I was so frustrated to see that they put in another cheap flat ride in its place. It was called "Skater", and it was another spinning ride that goes up and down a track. Not for me. But either way, it's pitiful how Canobie replaces a coaster with a carnival ride. Give me a break. The Galaxi was once the second best ride in the park, too. Canobie always gets me frustrated at some point.

We then hit other rides in the back: Timber Splash WaterCoaster (15 minute wait for the "Wet" side; the other one was much longer) which is okay at best, Mine of Lost Souls (15 minute wait) which is decently themed but I don't get the thing with the Pharoah as I never have, and finally the Po

Sorry to hear you ran in to an op with an atitude. He's lucky I wasn't there. I woudl have had his ass reamed out so fast he'd Brown his kakis.

anyways I have trouble not defenting the park a bit. no thrills. Unfortunatly you don't do flats so you a littel short at any park. but you shoudl look at Whipout, Matterhorn, Terkish Twist, Phycodrome, and Starblaster. all thrill rides. Maybe you could explain what you think is a thrill ride.

You got this post in before I could post any news on the Skater. bu the way it's not a replacment its a rental. they wanted to check it out and are leasing it From Zamperla for the remainder of the season with an option to buy.

The park is a very buisy park and it's funny how people can't beleave me when I said tere attendance is similare to SFNE. keep in mind you went on a Monday which is the parks slowist day.

Thanks for reading. To address some of your comments:

The ride op, yeah, was the only bad employee I ran into that day at the park.

As much as I used to love those types of rides, Whipeout, Matterhorn, TT, Psychodrome, they're just not for me. Spinning rides don't do anything for me anymore and just make me dizzy. And sometimes when I ride attractions like that they can get me dizzy for the rest of the day. But Startblaster, yes, was good.

About the Skater, I didn't know that. Well that's interesting. I think the point I was trying to make was, Canobie needs to find/do something "big" to replace the Galaxi because in my opinion Galaxi was the 2nd strongest ride in the park.

I just really really hope, that Canobie will finally invest in a coaster, especially now that Galaxi is gone. So I hope they do something to that scale but I have a feeling they won't till another few years. They need a more modern coaster or perhaps a woodie to attract guests.

And I'll tell you one thing, Mrc: IF Canobie does invest in a good coaster I would probaly go there over SFNE most days. All I'm saying is I was dissapointed to see the Skater up so fast and it seemed like it was just a weak move to make but I feel better now that I know what you said. But I guess I can still hope that that day will come with a new coaster, soon.

And yeah the attendance is always high. I didn't know Monday was the slowest day. What is the best day to go?

Normaly Monday's! Tuesdays there are no shows and as the week go's on the park gets buesyer. there are normaly Companie Picnics every Saterday. this last weekend there were 2-3 moderate picnics going on. and the park was swamped. 3-5 cercutes on every ride.

The parks wants to do allot but they work ina fasion that SFI dosn't. Canobei works in cash. every ride they have instaled every emprovemnt and can of paint was bought straight out. they have a few companie Credit cards but thats it. No huge loans to build a ride and runing in debt for 12 years, like SFI.

I talked ot one of the owners and it looks liek the park may look more into a family ride agian for next eyar it all depends on what sort of atendance they get. there is also talk of buildign a new entrance and removing the pool. there is so much they want and need to do. The owners face lit up wen we proposed removing Tember slash for a Mine train coaster. that spot coudl easly hole a oaster that woudl rival the galixy and a coaster back in that area, especialy since they have been openign it at 11 insted of 12, woudl be great for it.

It's hard to find room for coastrs in the park and also allot of arguing withthe city and a full agreement from al 3 familys. give them time they know they need a new coaster but there not sure what to do. the Galixi removal was not planed. they were havign problems and the coaster was down more then up and it was takign off space. not much of a ride at that point.

i will work on that coaster thing though.
